Planning to move to NC

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I would like to move from md to nc sometime in the near future. I have been applying for jobs but i have only had a phone interview with no call back. I currently have almost 1 year experience as an RN and 5 years experience as a tech/CNA. I was looking more so at the Charlotte. I only have OR experience as an RN. I have my Associates degree and am currently working on my bachelors. I would love to stay in pediatrics if possible but is findidng this to be unrealistic with the little experience as a RN. Does anyone have any pointers on finding a job here, how to make myself more noticeable, where to apply to. Any tips or advice would help.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

Raleigh-Durham area is hiring.

I just moved to Wilmington, NC and the hospital system here is always hiring. I'm waiting to take my boards so I don't have a job yet, but they seem to have a lot of openings as I hear advertisements frequently.

Specializes in ICU.

Charlotte isn't a half bad place to be if you want to stay in peds. Not a ton of cities have children's hospitals in NC, but Charlotte has two - Hemby and Levine. Charlotte is just a great place to be in general. I am thinking strongly about moving there in the future.

There are three children's hospitals in the Triangle: UNC, Duke, and Wake Med.

Are you liking Wilmington so far? I'm considering that coastal town myself.

OP did you move to NC yet?

Not yet. The buyer I had lined up to purchase my house backed out. I was made a good offer by NHRMC but had to place it on hold until I can move. Hoping housing market picks up so I can finally move. I really like it there. Did you take your boards yet?

I love wilmington. You have the historic, river front downtown with lots of restaurants and cafes and it's so lively. Then you have the relaxed beach end with lots of outdoor activities. It's the best of both worlds. Plus, I've had six job offers since being here. So I would never worry about the jov market.

I passed earlier this month.

CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING BOARD!!!! That's a huge relief, I'm sure. Yes, I love Wilmington also and hope to permanently relocate by end of year (as I cross fingers my house sells). I plan on calling hospital again and see if I can reapply. HR requested I call them as soon as I secure a buyer and we can move forward.

Thank you! It sounds like they are being very supportive! If you need any advice or help in the future job hunt once you plan to move, message me on here!
