    Planning to move to NC

CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING BOARD!!!! That's a huge relief, I'm sure. Yes, I love Wilmington also and hope to permanently relocate by end of year (as I cross fingers my house sells). I plan on calling hospital again and see if I can reapply. HR requested I call them as soon as I secure a buyer and we can move forward.

    Planning to move to NC

Not yet. The buyer I had lined up to purchase my house backed out. I was made a good offer by NHRMC but had to place it on hold until I can move. Hoping housing market picks up so I can finally move. I really like it there. Did you take your boards yet?
  4. Hello! I have an interview tomorrow at Grand Strand in Myrtle. Anyone familiar with their interviewing process and /or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Relocating to Coastal SC

Thank you very much! How is Savannah in terms of employment opportunity?

    Georgetown/Pawleys

Hello! Does anyone work within the Tidelands Health system? If so, would you recommend it? If not, why not? I am seriously looking into employment opportunities in the area and would like to "filter" the area in my search. I've been a nurse for a year and work in med/surg and mental health (PRN) but started out in Pediatrics. Thank you in advance!

    Wilmington, NC

Hi! I just scheduled an interview for m/s position at NHRMC for next month. I currently live in Gatlinburg but relocating to the coast hopefully this summer sometime. The "average pay" doesn't sound appealing, however, if cost of living is low then it can even out somehow. Before making the 6 hour drive to Wilmington, would you be willing to provide me with some good information about the hospital in general and most importantly the unit? My email address is mdedge@yahoo.com I would greatly appreciate it and completely understand if you're not comfortable doing so.

Are you liking Wilmington so far? I'm considering that coastal town myself.

    Relocating to Coastal SC

The spectrum is rather open at the moment provided it is near the coast. Do you work at the Hilton Head Hospital or know anything about it?

    Greetings from the Smokies!

Gotcha! It is pretty inland so I would not be looking there. Thanks for the tip.

    Greetings from the Smokies!

It is a beautiful area. The mountains hold bittersweet emotions for me. I moved to the Smokies in 2007 from New York City with my husband and 2 children. In 2008, we lost our 3rd child at birth, then 6 months later I lost my husband to cancer. I remained in the mountains where healing began and now 7 years later, I am ready to close this chapter and open a new one. For me, the coast represents a new beginning and that is what I am ready for.

    Relocating to Coastal SC

Hello everyone! I am relocating to the beautiful SC coast as quickly as I can sell my Smoky Mountain home in Gatlinburg, TN. Nursing is a 2nd career for me after almost 2 decades of Sales/Marketing in the television and beverage industries. I've been an RN for a year now and worked 6 months in Pediatrics and 6 months and counting (still employed) in Acute Care and Mental Health (PRN). My strengths include fluency in Spanish and English and almost 7 years of diabetes management experience. My youngest child was diagnosed at the age of 20 months and is now 8 years old. I live and breath diabetes 24/7. I saw quite a few open position at Grand Strand and most were PRN. If anyone is working in one of the coastal hospitals, I would greatly appreciate suggestions, recommendations (where to apply) and so forth. As for residency, I would like to be within 30 minutes of the ocean since outdoor space is a necessity with 7 dogs (4 of which are Great Pyrenees). Any suggestions, recommendations, directions, etc...is GREATLY appreciated.

    Greetings from the Smokies!

Good idea. Where would I find that? I'm new to this forum and not familiar. Thanks for the advice.
  14. Hello everyone! I am excited to be a part of such a large nursing forum. Currently, I live in Gatlinburg, TN and looking to relocate to the coastal Carolinas. My husband prefers South Carolina (lower taxes, etc...) but I am open to either North or South. If anyone from either (or both) coastal areas can share some information regarding employment opportunities, best place to live, etc...I'd greatly appreciate it. I am BLS, ACLS and PALS certified and have been working on a med-surg unit for the past few months. Prior to that, I was in Pediatrics. Overall, I have been a nurse for a little over one year. Nursing is my 2nd career. I spent 15 years in sales and marketing in the television industry and foodservice (Pepsi to be exact). Thanks to all in advance for taking the time to read and (hopefully) respond.
