what is the normal urine output for neonate? Is it .5ml/kg/hr? (studying for nclex)

Thank you for help.

.5ml/kg/hr is low. Needs to be @ least 1ml/kg/hr.

our hospital likes 2cc/kg/hr for 24 hours. once below that we start to look at it.

In one nclex question in the Saunders book, 1-3 ml/kg/hr was considered "increased". Based on that, for the sake of nclex, I'm going to consider it 1ml/kg/hr. But good to know what could be hospital policies. Thanks JenKatt.

We use 2 ml/kg/hr, except in newborns for the first 24 hours or so.

Merenstein and Gardner, Neonatal Nursing is the best reference for neonatal ??s.

We do 1/kg/hour as well.

Another vote for 2cc/kg/hr.

We do 1/kg/hour as well.

We also do the same as you all do that is 1ml/kg/hour

1-4 ml/kg/hr preferably 1-2 ...3-4 being on the high end of normal.
