Non Nurse Threads

Any nurse that knows what she's doing is already careful about answering these types of questions. Yes, we all probably think the same thing when we see these questions asked, and hopefully we all give the same generic answers. :)

It would be nice to be able to say only nurses and nurse related people (students, aids, etc.) could come here to feel at home, but enforcing it isn't realistic.

My experiences here have shown that most people that aren't serious about nursing usually don't last long here. They fade away pretty quickly.

There was a post like that the other day. I made sure to defend the possible reasons for the 5 minute delay in answering a call light. In fact most of those type posts do end up with us usually defending each other. It is nice to see that kind of support from others who are in the trenches and know what the real deal is out there. Good thought though. I vote we answer but do it in such a way that any lawyer will run away with his or her tail between their legs!!

Flowerchild, you raise a legitimate point. For some reason, there are always party crashers around! I was warned about one today that I hadn't picked up on. Simply be mindful of people who want to know things that nurses should already know, or who have a lot of questions. Some willingly identify themselves as sightseers, others lurk and posts with more devious purposes.

Heather is right-after a while we get to know each other, and ecognize who we can trust.

right on everyone who responded to flowerchild's concern!

we should just know what to say or not to say no matter who we are responding to. lawyers can use anything they want.....that's how low down and dirty some of them are. :chuckle

I too, start to feel "not a home" when non-nurses and other cyberstalkers join. I get enough yelling and complaining and being told nurses suck from patients to my face, I don't need to deal with them here. I come here to vent, to escape, and to (hopefully) have intelligent discussions with other nurses and medical professionals.

Perhaps requiring a license # upon registering would help. Even if Brian doesn't really check them, non-nurses would definitely not be able to even come up with a fake one that LOOKS legit (ie the right # of letter/number combinations)

Required license numbers would work, but how do we accomplish that without leaving out students and new grads who do not yet have a license number from their BONs? I just got mine in the mail like a week ago. its a good idea though, but not sure if it would be doable :)

Yes Renee. That is their new mission. They have their lurkers. We have ours.

They are personally out to get us for having thoughts and opinions once we get out of our scrubs. They must have thought that we have our batteries removed and our existance ceases until our next shift :confused:

Brandy.....the GNs have a temporary license to work as nurses, so the numbers on their temps could be obtained. As for the student nurses, they should have student ID cards with a registration number of what college they attend...or they could fax Brian or the moderators a letter signed by the Dean of Nursing or Asst. Dean of Nursing at their schools stating they are indeed nursing students. :)
