Does anyone have a list of hospitals in DFW that do not use Group One?
I looked on the website at the "client" list, but I would like to here form people who know first-hand.
Anyone?
Ok guys, I talked with GroupOne today and got some information. They DO NOT want nurses to be afraid of them and their intentions. It is in their plans to do some education with nurses, not just HR regarding GroupOne's role. WE DO do have a right to view what has been reported about us, and WE DO have the right to dispute the report. If the hospital stands strong on their position, GroupOne will not change it, but you comment regarding the situation will be affixed to the report. They said that they only put factual information only - nothing subjective from a nurse manager. You can get a copy of what has been reported about you for free if you have been denied employment and it is done within a certain time frame - he believed 60 days, but you should verify. If you have not been denied employment you can get a copy of the report by requesting a copy, in writing he believed, for $9 or $10. I hope this will help you guys and maybe at least make you feel a little better about your future in nursing. It helps me a little, to know that I don't have to leave nursing or remain an LVN forever with very few employment options.
The guy I spoke with was Eric Scott and he is the Director - 972-719-4208 x 5052. He was very pleasant and concerned about how nurses view GroupOne.
The person to contact to get a copy of your report is Shalan at 972-719-4208 x5050. She will not be in the office until Tuesday.
Good luck, I hope this helps and you guys can start mending your futures!

Because Group One is used for background checks this is a little sticky.
Yes, you do a have the right to view the file, They are a CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY and that right is governed by the FDCPA (FairDebt Collections Practice Act) and the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act).
Group One never refused to give me a copy of my file. To the contrary, it was a simple matter of paying a few dollars and providing ID. It was removing the errors that caused the trouble.
Anyone who is in the know will tell you, the WORST thing you can do with a CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY is put a personal statement on file! It will be viewed as an admission of guilt.
Group One in a CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY! Deal with them as such.
Alahnas_poohbear I applaude you for calling and I believe the person you spoke with believes what he said, but my experiences with them and the experiences of many many healthcare workers in DFW have been very, very different from his reality.
If you are fired and your manager is unfriendly and if you are unfortunate to work for a hospital whose HR takes the word of the manager with regard to firing you may find that HR reporting things like "Insubordiantaion" or "Abandoned" on your Group One.
Yes subjective things do get reported to Group One because the hospital's HR department may ask the manager to provide information which the HR department in turn reports without regard to the intent.
It is definitely still there. Make sure you have the url right, or try one of these links.
It came back up early this AM. If you look at the site all the HCA names are gone.
I also wonder how one ends up in Group One records. Can applying and interveiwing for employment instigate something or being a student, or obnoxious patient ,or a clever imposter ,or is it only employees on duty who are scrutinized. It is too ambiguous and should have more structure if it's going to exist.I know someone previously posted info about a name and number get a copy of you record ,but can someone please tell me the name ,number, address, and if we have to include a self addressed stamped envelope, and what I.d. is to be copied or verified,or if we have to retrieve this report in person, what we are supposed to request in writing.Basically,I want to see my business and want to know how,Please help me out.
At the time, I lived right around the corner from their Irving/Las Colinas office. It was easier for me to go into their office on Decker Street and get my report. It took less than 10 dollars and ten minutes.
They share a building with the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council. (The irony of that did not go unnoticed).
They are a CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY so by law you can get a report.
If you apply for a job at a healthcare facility or agency that uses Group One, the facillity will use the info you provide in order to get a background check through Group One. That is how most people initially get into their database.
When you leave your healthcare employer, if the use Group One, the info is most likely reported. If you leave under good terms it is still reported, it just contains no derogatories.
If you go to a school in the area that uses Group One background checks for their healthcare programs, you will also end up in their database.
Remember those forms and applications you filled out that asked for your past and present addresses, education and employers? They don't go away.
Group One is a CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY. Technically they are along the same lines as Experian, Transunion and Equifax. They are governed by exactly the same laws. They deal in information gathering.
The only difference; Group One deals in background checks for DFW healthcare employers.
They are still however obligated by law only to include and report VERIFIALBE information.
Yes, I have made it one of my goals to inform people that the personal information they put on forms and applications does not go away. Even if you do not use credit it is important to know that there are CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES that are legally allowed to track and report this information. Use it to your advantage.
