For example: Every Sunday I order a Pizza and watch the Walking Dead.

Do zoodle-ized vegetables taste any different/better?

Specializes in hospice.

Zoodle refers to zucchini spiralized and used in place of noodles.

And no, spiralized veggies don't taste different, but you can use them in different ways. I've been looking for an excuse to buy a spiralizer.

PS my fave recipe site has several recipes for spiralized veggies. Skinnytaste

Interesting. Zucchini noodles with tomato sauce and garlic actually sounds really good. (And a Zoodle machine sounds like it would make a perfect gift idea)

You can spiralize broccoli stems, too. Keeps anything from being wasted and you get all the amazing nutrition, but it's nicer to eat in that format. :)

I make zucchini Parmesan all the time because I'm not a fan of store bought eggplant. (Too bitter.) So I would imagine it would taste really good....I've never spiral-ized anything though...but the flavor combination definitely works! I'm Sicilian so I eat more than my fair share of pasta...and pretty much anything else with marinara on it! :)

I admire all the low-carb solutions; I will have to try a few! I'm a vegetarian so it sometimes take some discipline to not overload on carbs....especially when I don't feel like cooking!

I get the intent of this post. We all need to let go and reward ourselves. I desire many of the foods I see posted here. But I choose not to indulge in these highly processed foods that offer little nutritional benefit and are more detrimental to my health than helpful. Health is accumulative. I want to stay fit and healthy as long as I can. When I need a guilty pleasure, I resist. I will wait. Then when I do indulge, I really appreciate it. When choose to eat poorly, the one food I really crave, and have craved over the decades is Taco Bell hard shelled tacos. I used to order three for lunch, but now just two. I don't have to eat poorly and be a glutton at the same time.

As nurses we are role models. A good nurse practices what s/he preaches. We all need to reward ourselves. I encourage you to consider how your guilty pleasures are causing you harm. How is it effecting the people who love you? One way to consider your influence is to take a hard look at your family, friends and colleagues. Studies indicate a relationship in health practices. If one person embraces healthier behavior, a ripple effect takes place, causing other members in the circle of influence to take better self care. The opposite is also true. By posting all the junk food we consume in this post, it gives permission to our peers to follow suit.

What else can you do to feel better? I get a pedicure every two weeks. I go on dates with my husband. Take a weekend vacation. There are many other things we can do to feel better that are good for all.

I put forth a challenge to come up with a new pleasure that will enhance your well-being and perhaps encourage others to do the same.

This is supposed to be a fun thread.

Everything in moderation. I WILL indulge and enjoy myself when I choose to. I also know when I've had enough, but there's more to life than worrying about food.

I run 3 times a week and do weights, so if I want to indulge a night or two, I feel no guilt about it!

I am going to Philly and do the Pat vs. Geno's Challenge this weekend with a LOT of 14 year olds!

Not A cheese steak fan. Don't they use cheesewhizz?

I'm going to reward myself when I get home with a mani pedi AND wine.
