No test reviews in my program... Anyone else ?

Published

Hey everyone ! I go to a community college in New Jersey for Lpn and in my last semester . The program is OK but for all our tests we do not go over what we got wrong and just receive a number . No going over questions or seeing what mistakes we have made so we can improve ourselves. I believe They took away the test reviews from the whole program when 2 semesters ago a student made a big deal over 2 points . To me they just don't want to deal with us if we see anything that could be a debatable answer . Was wondering if they're any other programs that do not review the tests ? i just feel like we are missing out on what we could improve on if we never know what we got wrong. How will we be prepared properly for the nclex coming up in a few months if we're not really sure what we need to IMprove ?

We have test reviews immediately after we hand in our scantrons so we can pretty much know how we did instantly, and before finals we have a huge review where we are given back our written on copies of the tests & given the answer keys again to study from in groups. We are NOT, however, allowed to take notes from them.

Not always, if we request it then the instructor will go over the tests...more so in first semester tho. Also our instructor adjusts tests/quizzes because there are many variations in our books.

We never reviewed tests, you got to view your grade and that was it. You could make a PRIVATE appointment to see the director and go over test questions in person, however.

We can see our tests and scantrons and such afterwards. In fact yesterday we got everything back plus a copy of the test to check our answers we got wrong for our last 2 tests in med-surg. Most of the stuff I got wrong I said "DUH!" to, because I knew most of the answers! Lol.

if no test review is formal policy, might want to find another program.....you learn more from what you get wrong than from what you get right....so sayeth a nursing instructor of mine, many moons ago.....

My teacher shows us the test on the overhead right after. She said its pointless if you don't do it. And that all of the teachers in the program don't do it which sucks.

I hate that we dont have test review so that we are able to see and or know why we got a certain answer wrong, majority of the nursing schools in Pa dont give one however, my teacher gives us one

Wow hope they dont use scan trons, my class would find tons of right answer check wrong, makes me kind of mad I ve been using them all my schooling years how many times have Ive been jigged.

I am in a Technical School for LPN and in one of my classes, the instructor does NOT go over the tests - we are only allowed to make an appointment. In fact, early on we had these assignments to hand in and a lot of us got low grades on assignments that were easy 100 (answers were all in the article - if you miss even one then it shows you didn't read the article). We would ask to see the paper and miraculously the next day we would see a 100 pop up on our grade.

One of our instructors who is phenominal goes over every single question with us and it helps a lot! I have a BA and I have never been in a class where we did not go over the test. As someone said above, it's pointless because you don't know where you are doing poorly.

i only had a few classes where we went over the whole test. a few others we just went over the short answer section. im gonna start making appointments to see my teacher during office hours to review the test.
