  1. Not always, if we request it then the instructor will go over the tests...more so in first semester tho. Also our instructor adjusts tests/quizzes because there are many variations in our books.
  2. I think it depends on the school as well. The drop rate if any is very low at my college and most classes have 100% pass rate when taking the nclex the first time around.
  3. My program is a year long (3 semesters) The first semester we have clinical's for 6 weeks, I'm not sure about the other two semesters.
  4. Ugh that's too bad. I had a great job at a hospital then relocated to a rural area for the nursing program and the only work I could find as a CNA was in a nursing home (which i was fine with) anyway I heard horror stories about management trying to get CNA in trouble with state over ridiculous things. What choice did I have I needed a job. Well, one day they try it on me so I resigned my position. I'm not going to work for a place that treats their hardworking nursing staff in such a disgusting way!
  5. I can't wait for clinical's. I have been a CNA for years and worked on an acute care unit in a hospital. Clinical's should be somewhat easy for me, thank goodness because I'll be busting my tail with everything else. I don't know if you have ever been in a cna type position? A lot of people that go into nursing school never have been and so when they arrive at clinical's it can be overwhelming for them. And nurses don't like students messing with their patients but remember you are there to learn. You have to jump in and take control of your education sometimes. For example if a nurse is being not so nice I would just say that I am going to give her patient a shower and change the linens.. Just to show her I'm there to learn and want this also that I can take some of the workload off her. Don't wait around in the corner scared waiting for someone to assign you a duty.. Not that you would but I have seen this from a lot of nursing students assigned to my patient when I was a CNA. I'd have to tell them to come and help turn a patient and change them. I hope you do great on your journey. good luck!
  6. Awesome! I start lvn schooling on Monday. I'm nervous.....There will be a lot thrown at us very quickly. I am not the greatest with math that makes me the most nervous of all.. I don't have a problem with conversions but I am not good at fractions. So I hope this will not cause me to fail. Good Luck!!
  7. I went to a bath house today and had a few mineral bath and sauna sessions came home and breezed through some chapters....I feel better however I am avoiding my nurse math meds book. I have looked at several websites and I still have trouble with those darn fractions. I think my problem set in when I have to find the LCD before I can perform the rest of the problem. I will re-attempt in a few days when I finish the rest of my fundamentals chapters.
  8. Thanks!
  9. abit thanks... I know this will be my largest challenge to date so hopefully it all works out in the end.
  10. I start the lvn program next Monday. My instructor emailed the class giving us the first 2 weeks reading assignments...I opened my math book for the class and started going over the basics, started panicking because the first chapter is full of fractions! I am not very good with fractions....Then I started reading my fundamentals book and working in the work book that goes with it....I had to go over the chapter twice to get everything correct in the workbook. I'm freaking out a little..okay a lot! I got A and B in my pre req classes but now I find myself wondering more like stressing can I do this or am I going to fail! Yikes, I just want to cry. Am I the only one that feels this way?
  11. I got all my books (beside the huge bundle) from Amazon and Ebay. For example my college bookstore wanted $30 for an lpn clinical pocket guide....I got it brand new on Ebay for $8..The college bookstores are ridiculous!
  12. Hello, I worked at Northern California Rehabilitation Hospital. I worked on the LTAC floor. Yes they do hire LVN's. Here in Ca an LVN is a nurse. You have your own patients usually 4-6 like the RN's. You are responsible for everything there is no RN holding your hand. The only thing you would need an RN for are certain IV meds like a PCA.
  13. Danskos! They are leather. Spendy but I worked 12 hour shifts as a CNA and they saved my feet. I'm willing to pay to not be sore.
  14. I don't even want to think about the RN. It will be a miracle getting threw the lvn... good grades don't come easily to me so I will have to study like I've never studied. But then again, anatomy was the most intense class I've taken so far, I didn't think i'd do very well but I did...
  15. I have 15 books ..... I figured I'll just take a backpack with the days books and leave the rest in my car since the parking lot is in very close proximity with the building.
