No motivation left

Hi, I'm 3rd semester in a BSN program. I'm suppose to graduate next semester and I am feeling very out of it right now. We just had our first test and I bombed it but then again, I didn't study. I don't feel bad or even nervous right now, I just don't care and I know this is not me. I tried to gave myself pep talks, do other things, but there are so many things going wrong in my life right now that I am feeling very overwhelm. All I want to do right now is just lay in my bed and not think of anything. Did any of y'all felt anything like this before? How did you get out of this mess?

You go to the student health center and tell them. They have seen this many, many times before and can get you the competent help you need.

I felt like that for a while. I just wanted to hide out in my jammies. I ignored calls from friends and has a total lack of motivation to do *anything*.

My friend called me out on it and I went to the doctor. Guess what... depressed. I didn't feel sad or mopey, just didn't want to do anything.

If this is new for you, you should go get evaluated by your doctor. I took an antidepressant for a year and it helped balance the cheimcals in my brain and now I'm fine.

Exactly what Jill said. You have come a long way in this program and in life, and it sounds like there is no one single thing that is making you lose your focus and motivation. That, to me, sounds very much like clinical depression or something like it. I encourage you to go to your doctor or the school's counseling office and see what a professional thinks. You deserve to be able to participate in life to the fullest, especially with everything you've already accomplished!

Do exactly what GrnTea said.

Get professional help to sort things out. Sometimes, some people, just need to take a break from school (a semester or two) to take care of personal situations and get back on track. I'm not saying that is your case, but I have seen it happen to others. To them stepping back for a bit helped them get back on their feet and continue school with renewed energy.

In my case, it was stress anxiety and panic attacks. I spoke with the Dean and my physician. I then made the best decision for my situation (which involved anxiolytics) and it helped me through the end of my program.

Everyone is different and react in different ways to situations. You will benefit from professional help in assisting you finding the best way to approach/tackle your situation.

Best wishes!

sounds like you are depressed... go get some help ;) OR are you feeling this way because you aren't enjoying learning to be a nurse? Or both?

Counselling! Forget the stigma. Just go. Your school must have a counselling center, and they might be exactly who you need to talk to about the situation. They can also help you sort things out before poor grades become irreversible. You will feel so incredibly relieved to have said what your feeling, and they are in a position to really help. Whatever the outcome, trust me, you will be glad that you went.
