no job yet= lose weight time
okay like mostly everyone here i have been looking relentlessly for a rn job. i have been looking and sending applications everyday and don't have much to show for it. so this may be a little crazy, but i have decided to keep looking just as hard, but because i have nothing else to do..
started working out hard-core about a little over a week ago and getting my diet out of control. i have gained a lot more weight than i wanted to throughout nursing school with all the stress and i would love you now kick off the extra 20 pounds from nursing school and from even before that. what a better time to get in shape but now, when we have nothing else going on too crazy in our lives but looking for jobs.
then at least at the end of this mess we can have something to show for it. i might have been unemployed and struggling, but now i am lean, sexy and my thinest.
i was hoping we could use this thread to help encourage eachother, tell eachother what workouts we are doing, share successes, share food ideas, and talk about goals and results.
this may be kind of off topic for this forum, but i would love tons of buddies to keep us motivated and to share stories and results with...
i'll go first...
i weighed 158 when i started this workout and since looking for a job have dropped 3 pounds and try to workout everyday. i walk/ run and do a lot of pilates with exercise band. i am hoping to eventually get down to 124 maybe by november or december, but as long as it is healthy and consistent, i don't care when it comes off by.
i'll keep you posted:: i hope others will share with me too:bowingpur:bow:
I just got done my work out for today...
I sprinted 30 seconds, jogged 30 seconds, and then walked 30 seconds for 60 minutes, I heard about this thing called high intensity interval training and I wanted to try my own variation of this because it does help burn more fat. I have been doing really well considering I went to the shore one day and went to six flags another. I still managed to exercise everyday, well if you include walking all day which I do and don't at the same time. I also managed to pack my food and eat fruits, veggies and good foods. I did not order anything at six flags or down the shore, I made sure I did not. My weigh in day is fridays and I am really hoping to lose 2.5 pounds this week, so i can say I accomplished 10 pounds in a month. Wish me luck and I will be exercising hard and watching what I eat.
Goodluck to all of you and remember, if you fall off the wagon just get back on, don't let it ride away.
Tip of day!....track your calories so you are consciously aware of what you are putting into your body and portion sizes.
Hey guys!
I don't start nursing school until later on this month, but I've been concerned about weight gain too. Even though I exercise 3-4 days a week, I wasn't overweight but I was 24.9 BMI. I started a new way of eating called the Belly Fat Cure created by Jorge Cruise. I eat 15 grams of sugar and 6 servings of carbs a day. I'm a recovering junk food junkie so I'm surprised I've been able to stick with it for over a month. I haven't been able to go to the gym as much as I've wanted for the past few weeks, but I still lost 6lbs. I have time to go to the gym now so I know I can lose more now. I'm really excited because I'm seeing results. I've counted calories, exercised for hours- nothing. This new way of eating really works for me.
So far have eaten 914 calories, worked out for an hour earlier with another combination of sprinting/running/jogging/ and walking. I am really trying to lose 2.5 pounds this week so I can say I lost 10 pounds in a month. Wish me luck and if I do not meet this goal and fall short than I will still keep going and get in next week. I will not give up until I am at a healthy and happy weight for me!
You guys are the bomb :) Remember, don't focus too much on the scale. Just do your exercise, whatever it may be, and decrease your portions, shooting for whole foods as much as possible. The weight will follow. Have the occasional treat. After all...we are human. I'm 5 for 5 so far this week on the exercise. Go Team Go!
Okay so my official weigh in was kind of messed up this week, because this was the first week I had to up my calories because I wasn't getting enough prior to this week, so my body had to adjust, and this week I got a new and more accurate scale, that usually says I weight about 1-2 pounds more than the older one I was using, but all in all my weigh in was pretty good considering.
DRUM DRUM......149.5 POUNDS from previous-150.5
Starting weight was-- 158 pounds one month ago from today
only 1 pound, but I consider this week my adjustment week, and this is the first time I only lost one pounds and I can't compain, I was expecting worse, and I will not quit either way.
But you are right I am not focusing on numbers too much, because I have been doing this for a month and feel so much better about myself and my body already, and I am ready to do this for another month and forever. I know that everything will be worth it and eventually the numbers will follow all of my hard work and effort. I am so proud of all of you and hope you stick with it and stick with posting on this thread because I think this is a huge part of what keeps me going. And I thank all of you for that.
WE CAN DO THIS!!.......and WE CAN HELP!
Hey, down is down, right? Sounds like you're doing super! I made 7 of 7 days last week for exercise, and I'm off to a good start this week too. My sticker for today read "way to go!" Thanks be to our window air conditioner, oh it is so hot today! I don't have a scale, which is probably a good thing, ha-ha. My sister weighs once a week. I can pretty much tell from my clothes if I'm staying within range, or am a couple pounds above, and usually I'm right. Everybody have a good week, and post when you can.
oh please, can I join your weight loss group too ? I am also a student battling the buldge ( I have gained 30+ pounds since the birth of my daughter in 05 and starting school in 07 ) and reading that some of you are having trouble finding a job makes me want to run straight for the Ben & Jerry's:crying2: I am in desperate need of motivation and any tips you all might have would be so appreciated
keep up the good work all
Yes of course you can join this group, We would love to have, I try to post as often as I can with accomplishments, foods eaten, a good workout I did or just to see how everyone is doing....So of course you can!!
DAILY ACCOMPLISHMENT!!..............
I don't know if this counts, but I went out to dinner last night with my boyfriend,
just at CHILLI's
and before I went I made to sure look up the calories in foods off there menu, and good thing I did any of the salads I know I would have ordered had about 800-1,200 calories in them. SO I found a grilled item for 360 calories for the whole platter before I left and had my order ready when I sat down
I think having a game plan made it easy to stick my my calorie restrictions and made the night fun and not overdone. I split a soup worth 160 calories with my boyfriend who ate most of it, and I had known how many were in that too, I would strongly suggest doing this to everyone , it really helped!
After all of yesterday including dinner, movies and everything I only consumed about 1,050 calories
Kinda of low but I am proud!
I find eating out the hardest time of all...My hubby is a buffalo chicken , chocolate sundae with extra everything type and never gains an ounce!!! :angryfire So planning ahead is crucial! And kudos to you for sticking to your plan!!!
I started tracking points , like I did for Weight Watchers on my own, its amazing how quickly the points add up, really makes me realize how much I am eating in a day.

Hey all....haven't posted for a while...had family in town and my MIL moved in with us temporarily....joy! At any rate, I don't think that I have gained any weight while the fam was in, but I don't think that I lost any either. I was still using my wii fit, but was eating more than I would normally. So, since I am currently afraid of my scale, I'm going to HOPE that I broke even! I'm back on track this week and trying to lost a pound or two a week, so hopefully I'll reach that goal.
My classes start again on the 17th and I think that my schedule this semester lends itself to work out time better than last semester did....I hope I can keep it up! I've been using the sticker thing. I have a planner that I use for home and school and it's never far from my side. Each day that I work out I put a little smiley sticker on that day. It's refreshing to look back over time and see all the happy faces!!
