There is a new process for NMC registration and it includes a competency test. I have seen the blueprint for the test and it seems so difficult to pass it. Is there anyone out there who already passed it? If so, can you give tips or some resources for review? Thank you!
Hi guys. :) what do you suggest should we review for the OSCE? I thought that instead of waiting patiently for the schedule of the exam without doing anything, it would be better to start reading and reviewing already.
So far this is what im planning to start with:
Nursing OSCEs: A Complete Guide to Exam Success
Catherine Caballero, Fiona Creed, Clare Gochmanski, Jane Lovegrove
Oxford University Press, 12 Jan 2012
NMC Test of Competence Preparation
- This just pretty much gives us a break down of what they'll be testing
And of course the Royal Marsden Book that gives a step by step guide to most common procedures.

Hi everyone. I've been reading this thread for a month now. I just took the CBT last May 20 and I am very happy to announce that I passed. To those who are planning to take the CBT, you can do it. Reading the Code of conduct and The royal Marsden was really helpful. Goodluck!
Ps. Anyone here who is already done in the application process? I am having difficulties as to which institution should I submit the forms. huhu
Hello! I am sorry for this VERY late response. I was very busy these past few months regarding my application and personal readons.
I passed the CBT, thank God, last January. The NMC blueprint helped me a lot. It provided references to review. I memorized the NMC Code and it paid off for some of the questions were literally based from the Code. I read and revised all the NMC Publications especially the Standards. The site that helped me also is NICE. Their guidelines are comprehensive and in my case, it helped me familiarize with UK setting. Due to the numerous and sometimes tedious articles or links in the blueprint, it takes a lot of patience to review the whole of it. I think constant reading / repetition is the key. I also used Saunders - the desktop app version. It helped me get used to the examination and on drug computation. Hope that helps!
on the other hand, i am on application stage. I have already submitted my papers to NMC. In my case, I did not receive any email from NMC confirming their receipt of my documents (which Ive sent last April). However, my agency in UK said (Ive signed a third party form) that my registration is still on "decision" stage. So waiting is the only option right now for me.
Hello Guys, Just want to clarify things i don't have any idea what is CBT and NMC Decision letter. I want to apply to UK and they required CBT passers and has already NMC decision letter. and I don't know how much is the cost and where i can take the CBT and where to get the NMC Decision letter? if anyone that can help me will appreciate it :) Just leave me a message to my email: [email protected]
