NMC UK New Process CBT

Published

There is a new process for NMC registration and it includes a competency test. I have seen the blueprint for the test and it seems so difficult to pass it. Is there anyone out there who already passed it? If so, can you give tips or some resources for review? Thank you!

I took the CBT last month, and failed to pass. I applied again for eligibility 2 weeks ago but encountered issues that can't be resolved over the phone. I sent an e-mail to NMC, as suggested by the representative, but haven't heard back from them. The waiting time is really frustrating, and I'm now starting to get worried.

General questions are similar to NCLEX ... actually, I find CBT's easier and pretty basic. Give equal attention when reviewing to Med-Surg and NMC's publications; question the simple terms you are doubtful of, like 'primary care' etc. Be inquisitive.

Good luck to us!

Guys, I need advice on studying techniques: I am a visual learner, I find A&P and med-surg easy to understand and remember but have a hard time digesting materials similar to NMC publications and fundamentals of nursing, it is easy to understand but hard to remember. How do you study with these kind of materials?

Congratulations btw to @blessed_22 and to all those who passed (not sure who else did) the CBT!!

I had the same problem with you at the start. I first took the CBT in December (that dark period where practically everyone around the world was failing).

I found it extremely hard to retain information, in the way that it was arranged online. So I had to invest time and a lot of effort to create my own reviewer from the review items available on the blue print. Basically i read through everything once, then arranged everything in a format that I would find more cohesive to study.

I also stayed away from most NCLEX type reviewers, since I noticed that it was better to focus on UK based nursing sources, especially since they tend to make use of different assessment tools than what the US uses.

What I did was 3 weeks of intensive studying for the material on the blueprint. With 1 week of reading through the whole Royals Marsden, Students Edition, for the fundamentals of nursing study.

This is helpful, thanks puccafied!

You're welcome, wish you luck!

@HARVA

Thanks for the shoutout!:)

Why don't you try reading NMC articles 3-4x or more? That's what I did when I was reviewing for the exam. You don't need to memorize. By reading and understanding the NMC code and standards, you will have a better chance of retaining the information in your head. Good luck and God bless on your test!

For you guys who are done submitting docs for the full assessment stage, any updates on your application?

^^ Exactly. Guess it would take me another month of review before taking the test.

Thank you blessed_22, I really hope to pass this time.

I believe you can only get the copy online, either have it delivered or get the Ebook version.
