NMC UK New Process CBT

World Registration

Published

There is a new process for NMC registration and it includes a competency test. I have seen the blueprint for the test and it seems so difficult to pass it. Is there anyone out there who already passed it? If so, can you give tips or some resources for review? Thank you!

hello yah all,,

after 8weeks after passing cbt, finally i have the decision letter from the NMC- stating ihave met their minimum

requirements to proceed to OSCE-the second part of the exam,

they noted that they have informed the university of northamptom about this.

and that i need to contact the university directly..

i have not done that yet as i am under an agency, and they have informed an employer about

this, and they are arranging for my sponsorship. i haven't directly ask just yet if the employer will

pay for my OSCE. all i know for now is that they are arranging for my CoS,

anyone who have booked for OSCE yet?

or atleast lodge a visa for uk under the NMC OSCE candidate category?

how was it? and did you have an agency or an employer to sponsor you?

or did you go over the whole process on your own?

just had my decision a week ago after having to wait for roughly 8 weeks i think..

as you might know they also ask me to contact the university to book for OSCE,

I know most of you are already in the next process but if anyone can help me please how to pass cbt test.. i took the test and failed. Aside from the money problem , I'm still in the process of getting my confidence back to retake the test. It seems that there is a lot to study.

Can anyone please help me how to study the blueprint or what are the topics in the nmc website to focus on ?

Hi everyone! I will be taking the CBT exam soon, hopefully by May after I take my IELTS this April.

I have two review materials with me now, the NMC Manual (compiled by a previous examinee) and Royal Marsden e-book.

Any suggestions on what topics I need to focus on? Also, how long did you guys review for the exam? Is 1 month enough?

Thank you! :)

Hi! I barely started reviewing for CBT I'm scheduled to sit it on the end of april. Where did you get your royal marsden ebook? I

Hi! Rachel Allen offers a review program for the CBT. I haven't tried it yet and don't really know how helpful their classes are. It costs around 25k pesos. Exam questions on the site that you mentioned are patterned on NCLEX so I don't think it will help that much. :)

You just have to concentrate on the blueprint and the royal marsden manual.

Hi I just passed my CBT last Dec 6. And my study period was just two weeks prior to that date. It really seem impossible but I did it and it's my first try. It was amazing :)

I did not read the Royal Marsden book, really. I followed a lot of threads here regarding what to expect on CBT. And they're always talking about the book. I tried downloading the book (available online) but geez, it's like 1000+ pages. It made me anxious even more because I think I can't squeeze those pages in my mind for two weeks.

So what I did was I just focused on the NMC CODE and the Adult Nursing blueprint. Because I felt like it's a lot easier to read compared to the book.

For two weeks I kept on reading and opening all the links inside the blueprint. It became a routine but it made me somehow grasp the idea what NMC is really trying to instill upon as nurses aspiring to work there - the center would always be our patients. :)

Cut the story short. The questions that I got were focused on the Code, consents, the 6cs, infection control, communication techniques, care for the elderly, and just basically about the blueprint. There were computations but it was easy. No medical terms and no pathophysiology. My questions were really focused on nursing care. Quality and safety. You just have to read it carefully. Some of the choices were a bit tricky because they're almost, almost the same. That's where your critical judgement would always takes place.

The 120 questions, I was able to finish it in an hour and 30 minutes. And you have 4 hours to answer that 120 questions. So what I did was I rechecked my answer for 5-6 times maybe? Just to make sure I'd consume the time alloted. And probably because it's the fear inside telling me that this exam is just too good to be true? Haha. I don't know what I'm saying here. Just take your time and focus really.

Anyhow, the main point is. Whether your reviewing it for a month or just a week. What matters is your dedication to really provide nursing care as reflected in writing and in actions. Dedication that if you really want to pass the CBT, you have to eat, digest, and live the NMC code by heart. Because that's really the way it should be esp if we have that UK dream.

You can do it. It's challenging but then again, it's all worth it. :)

I notice there are no posts since late 2016. I am in Texas and interested in taking the CBT. Since it is administered by Pearson Vue, as is the NCLEX in the States, I am wondering if they are similar. Has anyone here taken the NCLEX? Thank you!
