NMC Test Online

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

Hi guys!

It bothers me to see posts that some of you have failed. Trust me, I know the feeling. I had my first attempt at Trident last December, I was astonished to see some of the questions in the Royals Marsden Manual are reflected there, word per word. I finished the test in less than an hour, flagged about 10 items and I am pretty confident when I clicked on End Review. I thought the results will be revealed in 48 hours or so but to my surprise, at 7pm of the same day, NMC emailed me saying my results are available. I logged in to my PearsonVue account and was devastated to see a Failed remark. Not the greatest Christmas gift anyone would ask for eh?

Good thing I have encouraging parents, they told me to study harder and just sit the test again whenever I am ready. Two months after my first take, I finally mustered enough bravery to face the same challenge. I booked my test at MisNet this time around. I have never felt so anxious in my life, I mean... When I took the Nursing board exam, it was easy breezy. Taking the IELTS is easy as pie, maybe I was too confident when I first sat the CBT that's why I did not pass. So I reread the Royal Marsden Manual, opened the links on NMC with critical items marked (I think those are the questions that matter most, but I would not discourage you to read every link if you have the time).

Come exam day, I faked my confidence yet again, I find the staff at Misnet more accommodating. Maybe because they speak Tagalog, haha! 60 minutes in the exam, I am almost done and I was like, what the? I have less than 10 items flagged for review too (is this happening all over again?) I memorized the questions I am not sure of the answer/ questions I have never encountered in my whole nursing career, 5 questions in which if one is a critical item, I'm dead. Or failed. I googled the questions I had a hard time answering while sipping a McFloat in Ayala Triangle. So, for the first question, to my horror, I ticked on the wrong answer. I did not bother to check the other four. I am sure it is one of the critical items for it is an essential question. Bye bye GBP130.

I went home, knowing the outcome of today, I can't sleep. Keep on blaming myself for being so stupid, haha! I have accepted defeat but just to make everything official, at 7pm, I checked my email. A message from NMC is waiting for to be read and even before I could open it, I read, "Congratulations on passing..." It felt so surreal! I have to log in to my PearsonVue account just to confirm and when I checked my exam history, the status was Pass. I could not believe it either!

Your take away lesson? Don't lose hope, gather inspiration from friends and family, they are the ones you can count whatever happens. If your/their pocket allows, retake the exam and trust you can do it the next time.

Right now I am bound for interview at Omanfil this coming March 27 for King's College Hospital. Anyone who is going to? Please drop me an email at [email protected]. I would love to meet new friends there ^_^ That's all you guys! Wishing you all the best!

Is the "get all or fail" policy for the essential questions still in effect? :(

Hey everyone,

I am writing my exam for the second time and was wondering if anyone can give me any tips?

I was pretty discouraged after I failed the first time as I do not think the exam was hard at all.. So not too sure where to go now.

Would appreciate all the help :)

Unfortunately, it is still very much in effect. Otherwise, I and several other people here really don't see a good reason to even remotely fail the test at all.

I took the test today at misnet. Finished the test in 2.5 hrs including review of the items. I was really nervous at first as the questions that kept coming out were unfamiliar to me. But as the test progressed, I felt hope of passing the test. I don't remember who posted here stating that if you are a practicing nurse, the test should be easy. Calculations were quite elementary, and some objective type questions,which for sure are familiar to all of us.Questions regarding UK setting were also given but not that much. But I guess the critical questions were pretty obvious, they focus on patient and public safety.

I only read on the test blueprint provided by NMC and focused on the critical questions.

The result===>>PASS

Regarding agencies, I already contacted CTN but did not start with them yet. A colleague of mine is suggesting omanfil (she is actually flying to the UK this friday,omanfil was her agency)... I would love to go with petrick on the 27th but not yet sure with my schedule, will try if I can take an off on that day. I've been also having conversation with someone in London who is a friend of my friend but did not give me details yet.

BTW, Congratulations to all that passed and good luck to those who are taking very soon.

Congratulations to everyone who passed the exam!;)

@leyoh

Thank you very much for the input!

@Jaysfordays, when are you gonna sit for your second attempt? I hope you'll update us whether you passed or failed.

My sister and I have been lurking on this thread for some time. She just took the exam a couple of hours ago and failed. She said nothing from the Code nor the Royal Marsden came out. She got mostly technical questions that she even had to double check if they gave her the correct exam.

I didn't want to believe it but considering everyone's getting different test questions, I think I'm with you on thinking that NMC just wants our money. So my sis will just book for the second attempt and we'll see how it goes.

Also interested to know if anyone has failed the exam on their second attempt. I hope nobody has but please advise, guys. Thanks.

hi @shiobz, which country are you in? I also took my CBT exam this morning, but I still don't have the results yet. I took it at Pearson Vue in Makati. May I ask, how long does it take for the results to "usually" come out?

They did say the results come in within 48 hours.

I got mine after 2 hours. >_
