Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

Hi there! Kind of new to the forum. I've read through it quite a bit but first time posting. I am an RN in the USA trying to move to England. I have already passed IELTS and the Pearson Vue exam....just took and got my results wednesday :) .... So I've started the paperwork process and was wondering anyone from the USA what did you go for the "police check" would this just be a standard FBI background check? If so it says you have to upload it so do you have the report sent to yourself and then scan and upload it? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Terra!

I am from the U.S. too! If you only have one license in one state, I would just go to your nearest police department and obtain a "police clearance". However, if you have more than one license from different states, then you need to get a "FBI Clearance". DO THIS ASAP!! It takes 12-14 weeks for the FBI to send you the clearance back (I learned this the hard way and had to wait 12-14 wks, even though I had all the rest of my materials ready!). They send the clearance to you and you upload it to your portal. In the mean time while your waiting for the FBI clearance, you should be gathering all the rest of the materials.

Its good to see someone from the U.S. going through the process too. I am currently waiting for my DL at the moment. Send your email and maybe we can help each other through the last leg of this registration! Good luck to you!

Thank you for that information. I hope I will be able to receive my COS soon! After the decision letter, I thought the next thing to worry about will be the visa process and the OSCE. This has really been a waiting game for all. Thank you Dandelion!

Hi! I'm also waiting for my COS until now. My employer applied during the last week of June and they still do not have any response from the Home Office yet. The long wait is really agonizing... :'( What is your agency btw?

Hi Cottntale32! I'm from the Philippines & a registered nurse in the USA-Illinois. I just want to ask how long will it take for the USA BON to fill out the Registration Authority Verification Form & forward it to NMC? I never worked in the USA as I never been there but my agency insists that I should forward the Registration Authority Verification form to them because my license is still active. :( I'm worried that it will delay only delay my application to NMC.

Hello! I'm from IPAMS/CTN. I am also for Addenbrookes, how about you? Im glad to know that there are people who are on the same boat as me. It helps to know that I am not alone.í ½í¸„ I hope that we will receive our COS soon!

Omg we are exactly the same! I'm for Addenbrooke's too. Perhaps we could chat on FB and try to keep in touch? :) Sher Cruz | Facebook

It was a stressful day. I had no idea what docs to submit so I had to rely on gov.uk list. Surprisingly, I had to submit very few documents. I forwarded them two police clearance (NBI and Abu Dhabi), CoS, IELTS TFR, and just for supporting document, the NMC decision letter.

My application got a decision two days after I submitted it and got my passport with the visa on the third working day

Hi, when did you apply? Also, aside from abu dhabi, did you have other visas? I still have 15-20 business days to get a visa. But, it seems that UKVI is kinda slow lately.

Hi Leviathan13,

Each State has its very own "Board of Nursing", so determining the length each state performs a task can be a little tricky. However, I cannot see them taking more than 3-5 days to fill out the verification form, then about 1wk for the NMC to receive the verification form after mailing from the U.S.

I actually was almost held up because one of my states filled out the verification form... then photocopied the form and sent the photocopy to the NMC. The NMC almost didn't accept the photocopy!

If you don't mind me asking...how long did it take you to receive a RN license in the U.S.?

Good luck!

Hi Cottntale32!!!

Thank you so much for answering my question. :) It is the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation office that does license verification for Illinois registered nurses and if it will only take around 3-5 days for them to process the verification form then there will be no problem at all. BUT.... I got married last year & I have to file for a change of name to their office first prior to the license verification. I hope it will not take weeks for them to update my name.

I took the NCLEX-RN exam in May 2012 and got my license July 2012.

I have a question regarding the NMC portal registration as to what to put in the Ielts Candidate Number.

the website prompted my UKVI number and it is different to the candidate number found on my test report form. is it okay> or do i need to change it to my Candidate Number??

Anyone here whose visa got delayed?

Your IELTS Candidate ID number will be the ID you presented during the test which in most cases is your Passport number.
