Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!
Lanie, what is the ONP? Is there another way to get registered with nmc and avoid this exam?
My husband I are thinking about making the big move in a years time. He is an Irish citizen and we live in California, I am a NICU nurse in San francisco and would love to work in London. After doing some research, I think I am going to go through my husband to get a EEA family permit then resident card- I think this will allow me to work.????? but find a recruiter to help me get a job as a Nicu nurse there- does anyone know of any good recruiters?
And now the issue of registering with the NCM- I've just read all the pages from this thread and I have to say, I AM FREAKED OUT about taking this exam! Lanier- What did you mean by "once you have decided to go down the test route you are no longer allowed to do the ONP"??? Thanks for anyone's reply

ONP = Overseas Nursing Program which my understanding for new applicants or applicants after Sept/Oct 2014 is not an option

If your husband is a UKC or citizen of another EU country and you go the EEA - resident card permit then it will be easier to work but you still have to go through the NMC application to work as a nurse in the UK

Hi nicujen, the ONP is the overseas nurses programme and it is no
longer offered for new applicants - so the test of competence is the only option if you applied post October 2014. So unfortunately your only option would be the test!
I took the exam early today and passed (thank God)
For those who are asking, just read the link on the blueprint. Not memorize, READ. There were hundreds of links on there so Passing through one of those at least once is enough. You can't expect everything to appear in a 120 item exam.
Also, to clarify the Y and E on the blueprint since I saw 2 others who asked about it. I never bothered reading the Y but focused on the E since I assume it meant essential. I asked the same question here but everyone else ignored me no one even bothered to say that they don't know. But don't trust my judgment on this one as I said I only assumed the E meant essential.
Drug computations were very basic. Seriously. It couldn't get as basic as it were. Don't bother with the complicated Dopa-Dobu stuff.
Focus on patient centricity, public safety, safeguarding and consents. Elderly care and nursing interventions on common illnesses such as stroke. Nothing complicated like MS or GB.
If you have more questions ask away. I'll answer as soon as i can with everything I can recall.
Thank you for your helpful post!! Congratulations. Did you feel that the NMC blueprint was a sufficient study guide? It looks general to me but I get what you're saying about reading it versus memorizing. I bought the royal marsden because on the first attempt I felt that the questions were largely based on nursing specialties.
I'm eager to rebook my exam but am still having trouble with the NMC sending my my authorisation for the second attempt....they said a lot of people are having the same problem and it's "an IT issue" :/
Anyone else still having issues being able to rebook?! Was expecting to be able to book on 16 Jan.
Hi guys, I took the exam yesterday, and luckily, I passed. Maybe it's just me, but I was so stressed after I took the exam. I left the room thinking that I'll fail the test. (maybe I was just so pessimistic) Never bothered to check the results online, but the e-mail from nmc saying that I passed saved me from an impending depression. Lol. Anyway, I think, the blueprint was also helpful in some way. I got a lot of questions about Early warning signs, and track and trigger systems. Luckily, I read the post of Nixon (Thank you!) in this forum an hour before my test and made a real quick review of that system. There were also a few choices that never made sense. Oh and I also encountered a lot of items about infection control.
If you feel that the Marsden book would help then go ahead and study it. Just saying that in my experience, I never bought the book. For me the blueprint was sufficient enough. Go through all the links and read them.
As for the diseases, I have encountered Dementia, Alzheimer's, Stroke, Diabetes. No pathophysiology questions. Just nursing interventions.
No lab values encounters.

Thanks for the info, so so happy for you! And thanks for taking time to let us know about what to study. Did your friend pass as well?
Regarding the app fee payment you mentioned...had you already got your decision letter do you mean? And don't want to have to pay again? And also is there any word on the OSCE dates?
Cheers and thanks again x
