NMC Test Online

Published

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

Thanks for the information!

Is it your first take?

Hi guys, I took the exam yesterday, and luckily, I passed. Maybe it's just me, but I was so stressed after I took the exam. I left the room thinking that I'll fail the test. (maybe I was just so pessimistic) Never bothered to check the results online, but the e-mail from nmc saying that I passed saved me from an impending depression. Lol. Anyway, I think, the blueprint was also helpful in some way. I got a lot of questions about Early warning signs, and track and trigger systems. Luckily, I read the post of Nixon (Thank you!) in this forum an hour before my test and made a real quick review of that system. There were also a few choices that never made sense. Oh and I also encountered a lot of items about infection control.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread since I too have been unsuccessful with my first attempt of the CBT and I am absolutely petrified to go through all that again.

I have going through all the publications that I can find on the NMC site, except the 'track and trigger systems'. Can you please direct me to a link to it or a resource that I can go through it?

Thank you so much in advance. I am planning to resit the exam next week and I really hope I can pass it this time, since I don't have enough time to wait for another 6 months.

Cheers to everyone and hope we can all get there :)

Hahaha i feel you!

Frankly, going through this forum has been nothing short of an eye opener. I have just recently started preparing for the competency test. although I felt really scared reading all the previous comment especially from December, I am a bit confident now knowing that people are actually starting to pass it. I intend to sit for mine in the first week of February.

My question however is, how much time is enough really to invest in studying these materials and really feel ready for the exam considering that the materials to read is so voluminous.

Congratulations to you all that have scaled through... Wish you God's speed in the OSCE.

Thanks for any response...

A month of reading is enough.

Thanks for your response Alfredpower..

I don't know if your question is for me, but, yes I sat the exam for the first time.

I only read the system once and tried to absorb as much as I can since I only had about an hour and a half before the start of my exam.

Anyway, I added the links below. These are the ones that I browsed before my test, I hope these will help you through the exam:

Acutely ill patients in hospital | guidance | Guidance and guidelines | NICE

Early warning track and trigger | Critical Care Network in North West London

Thank you so much for these. :)

Hi nurses! I took the exam last December 18 and I failed. That was devastating. I waited for 28 days to schedule another exam and an email from NMC says I have been authorised to take the test anytime from 16 Jan-18 Jul 2015. So I go to pearsonvue and try to book and yet it says I'm not authorised to take the exam. Anyone who experience the same problem? Thanks!

Petrick,

I'm having the same exact problem! I too failed the exam Dec. 18. I've phoned the NMC several times about being unable to rebook and they've told me it's an "IT issue" :/ they advised me to send an email to their [email protected] I also sent an email to [email protected] explaining the problem. I sent the emails early last week and haven't heard back…

Maybe if you (and anyone else in the forum with the same problem) send an email as well it will help them to hurry up and fix the issue!!

Best of luck to you. I'll let you know if they respond with any updates.

So I've been browsing this forum for a while now...just reading what people had to say about the exam, etc. Well, I just found out I passed the exam! I'll just share what I studied (not any new study tips, I'm sure...but here ya go anyway!)

-I did buy the Royal Marsden Hospital Manual from Amazon. The quizzes were useful.

-My favorite NCLEX study materials. It's a bit repetitive studying NCLEX and the Royal Marsden...so I suggest just look at whatever material helps you brush up on patho/medsurg/clinical skills. I refreshed my knowledge about all patient populations (geri, mothers/infants, psych, etc).

-Blueprint....what a nightmare! Most of the links don't work and it's just overwhelming looking at that thing. All I did was skim whatever webpages did work.

Just remember to always try to apply The Code. The exam wasn't "difficult" it was just wordy sometimes. Many times I was stuck between 2 answers. I feel like I was familiar with everything on it, like nothing caught me off guard in regards to substance; just sometimes I didn't know what answer they wanted from me. I'm sure if they still enforced the essential questions, then I wouldn't have passed. Good luck to all resitting or taking the exam for the first time! Nurses rock!
