Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!
Yes! Finally received my second Authorization to Test last night. I've booked for the 5th of March. (I'm slightly paranoid about having enough time to prepare successfully just because I failed the first time). I bought the Eighth Edition of Royal Marsden Clinical Nursing Procedures for students. My plan is to skim that first….do all of the practice questions ( ALOT of them look similar to my first attempt) and the go over the blueprint again.
Any disease processes anyone think are particularly important to study in detail?? I'm taking the Adult version of the exam.
Thank you for all of the help in this forum!!
Thank you guys for all your cdomment on this thread! I already have an ATT to take the CBT but haven't booked it yet as we are moving houses in 10 days so I want to prioritise. :-) I came here to get an idea on how the CBT is like, and I'm glad I did. I was confused before as I thought that the moment I was given a candidate number, my ONP decision letter (April 2014) is going to be null and void, however, when I rang NMC up yesterday, they said that as long as I have not taken the CBT yet, my ONP will sitill be vaild. I am a bit relieved to find out about it as the Education Lead in our Theatre Department have submitted a query to the ONP assessor from City Uni of London (who are affiliated with the hospital I am working at atm, and who are offering an on site ONP programme for qualified staff) and I am still awaiting the reply from them if they are willing to include me in their next group. The Theatre department offers the ONP but I work in the Trauma&Ortho Surgery ward so I don't know how they will proceed with that. If worse comes to worst, at least I still have the CBT to turn to. And I am ready to take it. Soooo, hopefully all's well with all of us aspirant UK nurses! Thanks for this thread!
Don't sweat yourself. I only read the links from the blueprint from Friday until Sunday with gaming sessions in between. They seem to have given those who failed an "extra" take so if ever you fail again (hopefully not) then you won't have to wait for another 6 months. Exam trends? It's easy really. You just have to study all the links from the blueprint.
Oh and yes, I'm from the Philippines and passed.
Are there questions which has more than 1 answer like Select all that apply type?

Now I really do feel like a guinea pig. LOL
Thanks for the advice. I'm currently rereading all that I have downloaded from the first blueprint and I found a copy of The Royal Marsden Hospital Manual so I'll be reading that one too. However, I came across an item about the use of walkers and it was so confusing because they didn't specify if it has wheels or no but the answers have pushing in one and lifting in another. I could have answered two items then. LOL
Any of you have any advice on any additional resources for practice questions online? I feel like that's how I study best! There are some at the end of each royal marsden chapter but I'm just wondering if anyone else has found a helpful website. Thanks!
I'm sorry. I tried looking for websites like hose but came up empty.
I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now. Thanks to everyone who has been posting. I took the exam and I passed. I can honestly say, I really didn't study that hard. I briefly went though the blueprint and read maybe 12 of the links. I read thought the NMC Code about 3 times and that was it. I didn't study anything else. There was nothing on the exam that shocked me at all. However, there were about 4 questions I really didn't know the answer to. Most of it is common nursing knowledge, and if you have worked in a hospital on medical or surgical ward I can pretty much guarantee you will be fine. There were a couple medication questions but the math calculation was simple. Eg. You have 2.5mg tabs and the pt needs 20mg, how many tabs to you administer. Simple stuff. There was one question on Mental health nursing, one on maternity and the result Adult/Geriatric nursing. A couple questions on infection control and the rest on policies. The policies are common practice for any nurse from any country. It doesn't matter where you trained or worked (I'm from North America) its all the same. They basically want to make sure you are always putting the patient first. I didn't come across any 'track and trigger' specific questions. Make sure you brush up on nursing terminology. Although, I didn't and did fine. If you have any questions, let me know I will be happy to help. This forum helped me a lot in the days before the exam. Good Luck to everybody, and relax. You'll do fine. Cheers :)
