NMC Test Online

Published

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

@ iampresrn

They would require your ielts results when you apply online.. I forgot what else though. But you can go ahead and apply, you don't have to pay anything.

once you've applied online, nmc will create your pearsonvue acct and pearsonvue will email you with your authority to test. That's when you can book for CBT (competency based test - £130).. It's a 120 item multiple choice exam. After you pass cbt you need to pay the £140 and start processing the requirements on your portal. I don't know if passing the cbt or getting in the assessment queue is what your employer meant by stage 1.

hi guys..

i am planning to try working in UK and ive read the NMC handbook yet im quite confuse with the process. I am working abroad so i can't rely on agencies in the Phlippines to process all my papers, i have to do it by myself. i just want to ask these questions:

1. step one is filling up the online application right? do i need to submit all the required papers on step one or this is just simple online application form that i need to fill up?

2. i have a potential company in UK and they asked me to atleast complete the stage one of NMC application, what do they mean by stage one?

3. what is CBT?

Hello there.

1. When you first apply on NMC, you'll have to fill out an initial form where you enter your details and the test number of your IELTS. After that, NMC will assess and then authorize you to take the CBT. You get 1 year and 2 chances to pass it.

2. I think they're referring to passing your CBT.

3. Computer-based test. You can take it from Pearson VUE. Kinda like NCLEX, but much much easier.

Good day nurses!

As usual, I have a few queries with regard to the Full Application and Assessment stage, particularly about the documents to be submitted. I hope someone can answer these.

1. My university mistakenly entered the same date (graduation date for this matter) for the start and end of my nursing program. Is it possible just to superimpose/alter it with the correct date and just have it countersigned by the signatory?

2. My most recent employer refuses to acknowledge that I put the position "Department Nurse Manager" in the position of the referee instead of just putting "Department Manager". I know for a fact that there had been instances where applications were halted just because the word "nurse" wasn't noted in the position of the referee (which I openly told the HR associate). According to the HR department associate, they don't allow such because in the roster of positions in the database, only Department Managers are in it. Do you think including a personal letter with the explanation for this would suffice? I am just thinking of putting the HR department contact number for the NMC to call if they want to verify this matter.

3. With regard to the Declaration of Health, I saw posts pertaining to the stamp as the inking stamp only with the license number, is it possible if the dry seal itself be used for this since the doctor that I'd be asking to fill out the form is the owner itself of the hospital?

4. Lastly, I have read from a previous post (not sure if from Kurokocchi) that we really don't need to have a separate recommendation letter, just the form from NMC would do. I had been thinking all along for possible referees who would be kind enough to write a recommendation letter for me. Even composing a draft that they would just check if it would be good enough for them. Is this true???? No separate recommendation letter needed? No offense meant to you Kurokocchi, I know you are a very reliable source here. Just want to make sure. I know you know how tedious this process is, and how a single mistake could set us back like forever, so just clarifying here.

Thanks everyone

Hi dude.

1. Yeah, it's fine so long as the errors are countersigned. My transcript of training form was filled with correction fluid (I'm not exaggerating) and dirty edits and amendments WITHOUT being countersigned. NMC still accepted it and so I began to wonder if they aren't as strict when it comes to stuff like that.

2. Don't you have another senior nurse? If not, you'll have to come up with some kind of compromise with this "department manager" of yours. Talk to him/her (and your HR) that there needs to be a "nurse" written in the position space since it has to be something that the NMC can understand and that can be considered as an equivalent actual position in the UK health care setting.

3. Dry seal and stamp are interchangeable. Make sure his/her license number is included.

4. No offense taken. I don't consider myself reliable, either. I mean I could be wrong, too. All I've been spouting in this thread, however, has been from my (and some of my friends') actual experiences in dealing with the whole process of NMC, old scheme and new. I don't remember sending in recommendation letters (except as a requirement set by our employer), and that's why I said none is needed. I did, however, have to pay the same cost as our hospital's recommendation letter just so my nurse manager and nursing director will fill out the NMC reference forms, but that's a different issue entirely.

If you still don't believe me, take a look at the reference forms 1 and 2 personally. There's nothing in there about requiring you or your referees to send in any other additional letters. I mean, I know how it feels like to be antsy and anxious about screwing up this whole process, but why make life complicated, right?

Hi jocasanova! I indicated the date when I sent my assessment fee as my employment end date (which was earlier suggested in this thread) as I am still employed that time, actually up to this date lol. I sent my payment 6th of June, shipped all of my docs 18th of the same month. Yep, the info you provided on the documentary reqts MUST be the same with the filled up online requirements so as to avoid conflicts. And yep, you could hit the submit button anytime, whether before, during or after your mailing of docs to them.

Anyway don't mention it. I know the struggle you are currently experiencing at this stage of the process (stressful one indeed) because I have been there and done that. Absolutely no worries :)

Hi! =) I'm not with Jedegal but I know how this thing goes. As for me, go on interviews as much as you can. Just be confident and answer all their questions with the best of your Nursing SKA. Usually, they'll have you take a SIMPLE pre-test about nursing activities or just pure SIMPLE calculations. But it's so easy, trust me.

hi! any omanfil-kch candidates here who have received their cos? agents at omanfil said that there are already cos avaialable but they do not know yet how many of us will get the certificate this month.

They're there to test not just if you know your nursing stuff, but if you are as decent a person as you are a nurse. My friend didn't pass her first interview because she got too comfortable since the questions were easy and the panel were so friendly. She told me she said things she shouldn't have.

Anyway, just apply the things you've learned as a nurse thus far, remember to put patient safety first, dignity next. They're also particular about documentation, medication errors, dealing with conflict, and escalating concerns. No need for hardcore studying.

Friends, any idea how to get the pearsonvue site where we can have the practice test to try how it will look like the actual cbt exam...?

^ you're not alone. I can't find it also :(
