yes I am in a different country now and the process for me was far from easy. I understand the frustration but I hate seeing posts that come across as if the UK doesn't have good nurses and it has been said in this thread. All I am saying is it isn't easy for UK nurses to go abroad in the same way it isn't easy for overseas nurses to go to the UK

I agree with you about how hard it is to get registered. But the main gripe that the others (me included) are picking on is that the NMC is CHARGING people to take an exam which probably is in its beta Stages and the worst part is that they are making alterations on the run while people take the exam having reviewed for a previous version of their exam.
If the test was really solid then there wouldn't be this many complaints as it would be easier to swallow failure from a really hard exam than it is from an erroneous one. People here (yes, me included) have also taken numerous other exams and with that they have a background to compare their experiences with licensure exams.
From experience the OTHER exams are certainly more difficult than the cbt but without the bogus mechanic of critical questions.

Thanks Silverdragon for your contributions, but I feel as though you may be completely missing the point. Please don't hold a grudge over my earlier post that 'UK needed good nurses,' as you've mentioned numerous times, but you have to remember the RN's in this thread WANT to come to the UK, despite all seen and heard, and we are trying our hardest. OF COURSE no registration process is fool-proof, OF COURSE it is hard work for any nurse. But when the process is one that is poorly executed and unfair, of course we are going to be upset!
To be quite frank with you, if I were in charge of the NMC I would be feeling amazed that nurses are still sticking around with the process even after all the monkeying around.
If you feel the skills of British nurses in contemporary practice needs to be discussed, perhaps you could start a new thread?
Happy new year everyone :)

Hello! I just started the NMC application process yesterday. I'm in the US and was wondering how long it takes before I know if I'm accepted. Any suggestions or advises are welcome. Thanks

hi! are there any news or updates regarding the second attempts? Have the NMC in any chance change their rules regarding the critical questions?
Judging from my correspondence with them, they seem solid on their stance with the critical questions.

I still haven't been able to book. Anyone who received second email been able to book?
None of the people I know have been able to. I have asked both Pearson and the NMC but they keep throwing me towards the other.

I'm registered to retake (refail) the test on the 19th of Jan, after about a month of taking it the first time I was able to rebook, which due to few appts meant it will be > 2 months between tests. I spoke to PV and they reset my account with a new username and said that would fix it however it still didn'
t work for a couple of weeks.
