NJCU ABSN 2017

Published

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of applying to NJCU's accelerated nursing program. Any current students or alumni have advice?

Anyone else out there applying to NJCU? Or any other accelerated programs in the NY/NJ area?

I believe it is 3 semesters...that price sounds about right from what I've heard, but I'm not positive.

I think that sounds correct, I had estimated the tuition for the program at $30,000.

I received my acceptance email! Congratulations to all of you that also received it. I can't wait to meet you all!

Specializes in Inpatient OR.

Congrats to all of you that have been accepted! The program is 3 semesters long (Wall will start very soon--Summer, Fall, Spring; JC will begin in the second half of the year--Fall, Spring, Summer), and will be ~$11.5k/semester. Have they already scheduled your orientation? Some of us current JC students would love to meet you and give you some prep tips! (TIP #1: Don't bother studying ahead! Review your A&P, but that's pretty much the all you can do. Enjoy the time you have before you begin!)

Thanks for the advice!! Our orientation is scheduled for June 13th.

Thanks so much for the advice! Any idea what our schedule will be like for the first semester? Even if not exactly the same as yours was but just want to get an idea.

Hi and thank you Lacerti! I would love to meet you and your class members. Lets schedule a day/time to meet :)

@lacerti Would you be able to let us know about textbooks and that kind of stuff? Does the school provide any books or are we responsible for getting everything on our own? Etc

Hello everyone. I'm new here but have been lurking for awhile. I've been interested in applying to njcu for 2018, however I saw on the ACEN site that NJCU is withdrawing accreditation. Does anyone know how this may affect future, or even current applicants?

This last post greatly concerned me!

I did a search and on the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing page and NJCU is listed as voluntarily withdrawing their Baccalaureate program as of June 30, 2017 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH?!?!

Thanks for the heads up Bollaren!!

No problem and sorry for the alarm. I was just worried because I had planned to go to njcu for 2018. But I was able to get some feedback from someone that use to work there. It seems that njcu is switching their accrediation to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. She said that njcu's application is currently pending with them.
