NJCU ABSN 2017

Published

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of applying to NJCU's accelerated nursing program. Any current students or alumni have advice?

Anyone else out there applying to NJCU? Or any other accelerated programs in the NY/NJ area?

@kabinales93 sorry I meant I know the 2016 class might be finishing up right now . Any insight

I'll see if I can reach out to the soon to graduate wall cohort and direct them to this thread

Hi! I'm planning to apply for the ABSN to start Summer 2018. I'd love to connect with those of you who are just starting and hear about your experiences and some of your favorite professors. Two questions I have for folks:

1) Are any of you planning on continuing on to become an NP or get your PhD in nursing, and if so, did you address that in your application in any way?

2) Did you meet with professors and staff ahead of time to get a feel for the program, or did you just apply?

It's been a long time since I was applying to school (last time was in 2004!), and I want to make sure I'm doing everything expected.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Everyone,

I am planning on applying for the Jersey City location ABSN Fall 2018 semester start date. I have a question about pre-requisite courses. Currently, I plan on being 'in-progress' with my pre-requisite courses when the application deadline occurs. Was anyone else in this situation? Do I have to wait until my pre-requisites are all completed to apply?

@FutureNurseKit Well I have almost all my prereq done except for microbiology. I am going to take that this fall in September and the semester ends December 22 at a community college so it would already post before that deadline of 2/28 every February for the Jersey City campus

Hey FutureNurseKit!

For this cycle that we applied to, all of our prerequisites needed to have been completed prior to submitting our application. It's very likely that it'll be the same way for next cycle. Is there any way to complete all of your remaining prerequisites in the summer and fall?

lacerti.. Hi there! I have noticed that you are so active on these threads and extremely helpful!! I am just finishing two pre-reqs this fall for my application and was curious about the micro requirements.. It says that the minimum credits is 3 for micro but is that stating that you do not need to take a lab?? Or are some micro classes with labs 3 credits? very confused and curious before I move forward!!

Hello to all,

I am applying for the Fall of 2018. For those of you that got accepted--- How is it going thus far?

Also, I have a question that I hope one of you can help me with. In the application, where it asks to list your Prereq courses it appears like this

COURSE CODE COURSE TITLE SUBJECT

Ex: BIO 111 Human Anatomy & Physiology I Human A&P or Biology?

BIO 211 Principles of Microbiology Microbiology or Biology?

--------------------------------------------------> Here under the subject: would I put Anatomy and Physiology or Biology since the course falls under Biology branch? And same for the Bio 211, would I put it as Biology or Microbiology?

I don't want the application delayed for silly things like this. Can you guys share your application experience and give us some suggestions for a better process, please.

Thank you so much in advance for those that answer to my post!!!!! ;)

Hello @Rose001,

Even though Biology is a science course it is different than what they are looking for when filling out the Transcript Entry. This is how I filled mine in

Course code Course Title SUBJECT CREDIT GRADE CAS GRADE

BIO122 A&P II ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY 4.00 B+ B+

Course code Course Title SUBJECT CREDIT GRADE CAS GRADE

BIO104 MICROBIOLOGY MICROBIOLOGY 4.00

I did not list a grade for Microbilogy because I am actually taking that course now . I am applying to the JC campus for 2018

Thank you very much @Dianaju :).

Does anyone here know if NJCU test on critical thinking? How was it overall? And, if they do, is this section included in the 4 hours?

Thank you very much in advance!

Rose

I submitted my application to NJCU last week. I send the transcripts a month ago, but for they haven't been verified. The deadline for Wall is Feb 1, this Thursday, but NJCU says they give one week after the deadline for verification. Is this enough time for the transcripts to verified or am I SOL? Why doesn't NJCU or NursingCAS notify you beforehand that it takes time to verify the transcripts and only starts when you submit the application? I got an email after submitting via NursingCAS that it can take a full month for every thing to be verified - that is laughable, it should notify you when you sign up not after submitting. Any insight would be great thanks.
