Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of applying to NJCU's accelerated nursing program. Any current students or alumni have advice?
Anyone else out there applying to NJCU? Or any other accelerated programs in the NY/NJ area?

Hi there, I am also applying to the accelerated BSN at NJCU, specifically the Wall campus. What campus are you applying for? How are you finding the process so far? I took the HESI today and scored above 80% so I'm looking forward to completing all of the Nursing CAS stuff now!

Hey everyone! Im applying to the 2017 Wall cohort. Taking the HESI tomorrow mw1023! Any tips or items I should definitely know?
Hey mlbrito- good luck! I'm not sure if everyone's tests are the same but there were a lot of ratios and fractions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) on my math portion of the test. Definitely know the parts of a sentence (indirect object, direct object, predicate, etc...) You have 4 hours and can do it in any order so starting with my toughest subject was helpful. Did you use a study guide? I used the el sevier review and felt really prepared for most of it. I needed to supplement for a&p but I took it over the summer so most things were still somewhat fresh in my head. And most of all just stay calm. You get your score after you submit each section so that helped me stay calm. You can print out your score at the end of the test. Ask the people who work there and they can help you with it.
Thank you! Im using the Trivium Test Prep book that I purchased from Amazon. I didnt realize that Elsevier was the best option. I just opted for the cheapest on my budget lol. Ive also been doing a lot of test prep online for math because thats the one Im mostly worried about. I think our tests will have similar sections because were applying for the same thing. Was the Reading portion on yours? Also, did they let you use a simple calculator?
It's the same sections on each test(reading comprehension, grammar, vocab, biology, a&p and math), just not sure if it's the same exact questions. I saved the reading section for last. It had 5 or 6 excerpts (2-4 paragraphs each) with 55 questions total. Nothing overly complicated, just a lot of reading and rereading to look for the answer. There is a simple calculator on the computer available throughout the entire test so that really saved me a lot of time during the math portion. Hope this helps!
It helps so much! I wanted to hear from someone who took it more recently than the 2014 posts I was reading. Thanks again! How are you doing with the rest of the application process?
Knowing what you're walking into will definitely ease the stress! The rest of the application is going well. Nothing too difficult, just waiting for my transcripts to be verified or whatever. What about you? Did you go to any of the information sessions in Wall?
I'm applying to the Jersey City campus so my deadlines a little later I believe. I'll be finished with micro and anatomy in December and then scheduled the HESI for late January. I wasn't able to make any of the information sessions. Did they say anything about the average GPA/HESI scores of the applicants? I'm not really sure what my chances are of getting in!
I went to one information session for Wall and to be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the appearance and feel of the building. They said the classes would be held there. It was old, in a run down trailer-like building and uncomfortable. I'm not sure I could see myself studying and putting in extra time there. Anyone else feel like that? Also, I believe they said 3.0 GPA and above an 80 on the HESI
Oh no that's disappointing, i've driven past the Jersey City campus and it looks nice. Are you applying to other programs? What is your first bachelors degree in?
I havent really looked at any other programs. Are you looking at any others? My first degree is in Psychology.
