Hey FutureNurseKit! For this cycle that we applied to, all of our prerequisites needed to have been completed prior to submitting our application. It's very likely that it'll be the same way for next cycle. Is there any way to complete all of your remaining prerequisites in the summer and fall?

Some schools don't accept classes that were taken more than X numbers of years ago. If that's the case, then you can jump start improving your GPA by retaking those classes. Don't let your determination wane...it's going to take a little more time and money on your part to get in to school, but don't give up!

Don't be nervous! I was in the same boat in terms of waiting for my grades. You'll absolutely have plenty of time before the deadline.

Also, don't freak out if you don't do so well on the HESI. I got an 84 on the test and I could have sworn I wouldn't get in because of it. NJCU looks at your app holistically!

Thanks!! I'm still going to keep my job. We need to have health insurance while in the program and thankfully job is crazy flexible and letting me work the minimum amount to hours to be considered a full-time employee and keep my benefits. Once I receive my class schedule, I'll have a better sense of when I can make up the the 24 hours of work at my job. Plus, my job offers partial tuition reimbursement that I can take advantage of if I'm full-time. I'm honestly not sure how I'll manage and at this point I can only hope and pray for the best. The application process was not too bad. There is a great deal of stress involved when it comes to waiting for NursingCAS to verify your transcripts. I actually submitted my transcripts pretty late in the game, but my grades were verified 10 days after submission (which was about a week before the absolute final deadline date that NJCU set- anything received after that would not have been considered). Some people on the boards were mentioning that they submitted their applications two months beforehand and waited that entire period before verification. If I were you, submit your transcripts as early as possible just to avoid the stress. If you submit it beforehand then it'll definitely be verified on time. The same thing can be said about your references. Just FYI, your application doesn't start the verification process until you pay for your application which is the very last step in the process. I initially thought that once NursingCAS received my transcripts then that meant that they could start verifying my app, but nope- gotta submit and pay first. I looked on other all nurses forums because I wasn't entirely sure what the switch in accreditation meant and came across this post: I have been accepted to two nursing programs for Fall 2014! I'm having trouble deciding between programs. One program is CCNE and ACEN accredited, and the other is only ACEN accredited. Is there a difference? Thanks! Either is sufficient, and there's no particular advantage to a school having both. Unless things have changed fairly recently, ACEN accredits LPN, diploma, ADN, and BSN programs. CCNE accredits BSN and graduate programs. So, they both accredit BSN programs and that's where the overlap comes in (or, in the case of schools that have a range of nursing programs; e.g., if a school has had a BSN program accredited by ACEN for a long time, and starts an MSN program, they would pursue CCNE accreditation for the graduate program)

Hey lws626! I had pretty much given up on receiving any sort of email directly from NJCU, but they surprised me and sent something Monday at around 6pm. Originally (around 2-3 weeks ago), I had emailed someone from the nursing department hoping to get some sort of confirmation that they had received my application. They didn't confirm anything, unfortunately. My advice to you is to not freak out. As long as your application was sent prior to the deadline, transcripts verified, HESI scores sent, references sent then you should be fine and I'm pretty sure they have your application. Considering that the pool of applicants is much larger than other years (from what I hear) it's possible that they haven't reviewed your app yet. Best of luck and I hope you get some sort of notification within the next few days!

Hey Curious90! I got the standard email from the school this Monday saying that my application is complete and that at this point in time they cannot determine when final decisions will be made. The last sentence makes reference to not calling the school for updates since all announcements will be sent via NursingCAS. I've definitely been guilty of this! Whoops! Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

I never received any type of email from NJCU either and I submitted my application on the 15th of February. Last Monday I emailed someone from the Nursing department asking if they received my application since I never received any type of email directly from the school. Though they didn't confirm that they received my application, they did mention that I should have received emails from NursingCAS relative to the items being received. Also, if there were any specific issues with the application then we will receive an email from a committee member in regards to that. I'm hoping to receive something soon...it's definitely stressing me out.

Based off of the previous years, it seems that March 22nd was the date that the people who applied to JC found out about their status; however, since there was a snow day (and a delayed opening the day after) that may have delayed the entire process. I'm super anxious too! I keep checking my email nonstop. Hopefully we'll hear something this week.
