Yes it definitely makes sense knowing they are pursuing accreditation elsewhere, it was very concerning without that key information. It's actually a good thing that NJCU will be accredited from this organization as it has higher standards of the two recognized accrediting bodies. The email I received explained the process and timing required to obtain this new accreditation : "Our CCNE Accreditation visit occurred February 13-15, 2017. We received the CCNE Team Report this past month. The report identifies that we are in compliance with the 4 major CCNE Standards. We were requested to provide additional information on one sub-standard to the Accreditation Review Committee (ARC) and have submitted our program response to CCNE. A copy of our program response will be appended to the report when it is distributed to the ARC and to the CCNE Board of Commissioners. The CCNE Board of Commissioners will make an accreditation decision about our nursing program at its meeting on October 17-20, 2017. We will be notified of the accreditation action, in writing, within 30 days of the date on which the CCNE Board completes its accreditation deliberations. CCNE will send the accreditation action letter to us at that time. A positive accreditation decision is retroactive to the date of our accreditation visit in February." Sounds to me as though the approval is pretty certain, I can't imagine the school would risk being without accreditation if they weren't confident they would receive it from the CCNE.

Yes thank you! Good to have all this information though. I was in contact with the chairman of the nursing program and he confirmed that they are in the process of being accredited by a different ( more prestigious) organization (CCNE as you referenced) and they are awaiting final decision in early October and the accreditation will be retroactive to the initial site visit which occurred in February 2017.

Thanks for sharing! I am very nervous I wont get in either. jazminjfuertes, I think your degree in health sciences would be a plus on your application. My lack of healthcare experience or a prior science degree is my biggest weakness. kerri_lynn, making these drastic changes in life takes a lot of courage and even just committing to such a big step is rewarding in itself. I did not receive a confirmation email, however, I was in communication with the nursing department regarding CLEP scores and during that exchange I was told that my application was received and complete and that if any further info was needed I would get an email from nursing CAS. At some point I signed up to receive emails from NJCU and every time one comes in to my email I freak out thinking it is a decision regarding my application!! Its going to be a long month of waiting.... What's everyone's backgrounds and reason for choosing nursing? May as well kill some time and get to know each other, hopefully we will all be spending a lot of time together over the next year. My Bachelors is in English Literature. Have worked in administration/education over the years as well as raising 3 kids(19,17,14). Always wanted to pursue nursing but kept putting it off over the years. Finally committed and hoping to start a program this fall. Applied to NJCU and Caldwell, if don't get into either have to take 2 more pre-reqs over the summer and will apply to a few other programs.

Also waiting to hear for JC campus. I'm anxious but also afraid to find out. I was thinking early April for a decision but the sooner the better. NJCU is my first choice but I also applied to Caldwell and they send out decisions May 1. I've been curious about other peoples stats also, so here are mine: overall GPA- 3.45, hesi 91 cumulative and no healthcare experience. I feel like my essay was strong as well as my letters of recommendation.

CURIOUS90: Where is it that the deadline was extended? On CAS it was listed as 2/15 but on the NJCU site it was 2/28. I called and spoke to a woman who seemed to be in charge of the admissions for the ABSN program and she said she had set it up that way intentionally to give applicants some flexibility, as she put it a soft deadline of 2/15 and a hard deadline of 2/28. Have those dates changed? My application has already been submitted so it doesn't affect me, but I don't want to have to wait longer to hear a decision! From reading the forums and talking to people, I had been under the impression that NJCU made decisions fairly quickly ( within a month or so from application deadline). I assume a deadline extension would mean a decision extension. I have also applied to Caldwell which notifies applicants by May 1, but I was hoping to know sooner, NJCU is my first choice. Patience is not one of my strengths ;-).

Hi! I am also applying for the fall 2017 cohort. I submitted my application on Monday and am concerned that my transcripts won't be verified in time! I didn't realize that this step was part of the process that was initiated after final submission until I paid and officially sent my app. Looking for some feedback on what would constitute a good candidate. I have strong academics, test scores and a good essay and references but a weak (in my opinion ) resume. I have been primarily a stay at home parent, working was secondary and spotty. I plan to start volunteering at a local hospital but didn't get started in time to add to my resume. I wonder if anyone has any input on how the selection committee weighs the various components of the application. This program is my first choice as it is least expensive and shortest. Ive also applied to Caldwell but it is much more expensive and longer. The waiting is STRESSFULL!
