NJCU ABSN 2015

The application for NJCU is open for both Wall and Jersey City! I thought I would make a thread for this years round of applicants. We can share our experience with NursingCAS and the HESI.

Hope y'all find this!

Just to let you guys know -- you need to get titers for all of the required vaccines as well (Varicella, MMR, Hep B, etc) and a TWO-step PPD. But they'll give you all that information at orientation :)

Also -- they gave us information about a BLS course offered through them for about $65 I believe...it was April 30th. So I'm sure they'll have another session for JC as well!!

Oh and if you're looking at the forms and documents on NJCU's site, we did not use those order forms, nor that company. Just a heads up!

So do you think its ok if we just stay put until orientation? What about the Hep B vacc? I read it is 3 shots taken over the course of 6 months - which would mean it would be too late in time for September?

Definitely wait for orientation. They won't expect you to know what to do on your own...and for the Hep B vaccine, you can sign a waiver stating that you're in the process of completing the series.

Unfortunately there's a lot more that's involved than just filling out the documents that are listed on the site. We had to set up a special account online where we are required to upload all of our important documents rather than send them to NJCU directly.

If your orientation is in June (I think I remember someone saying that), you'll have PLENTY of time to do everything. I promise!

Tinemarie, thank you so much for the info. I'm freaking out since I need to get stuff settled for financial aid. It's overwhelming. Do you know if NJCU gives out scholarships? I know it's a public school so it's harder.

hey eris08! I vaguely remember someone asking that during orientation and unfortunately I do not believe so.. At orientation you'll fill out a financial aid form and you'll get to hear from a representative directly from NJCU's financial office -- it's a whole presentation. I know it is worrisome, but try to keep calm!! They'll be able to answer a lot of your questions in June!

Good luck to the Wall students who just started this week. You get to start this journey earlier than us JC students do. Hope they're not working you too hard on the 3rd day. :nailbiting:

Can you guys confirm that the textbooks someone posted earlier in the thread are the ones we will use?

Happy memorial weekend everybody!!! One month away from orientation! Ahh so excited. Has anyone started on the background check and vaccinations? We have till sept 8th to do them right?

Same here, I'm tempted to call and see when it will be, but I know they asked us not to do that. But on another note are any of you going to start getting your vaccines or are most of you going to wait until orientation for all of that?

I'm going to wait until orientation just because we start in September anyway and I am not really sure on everything. I just emailed and they told me my check was received and that it should be processed soon.

I'm going to wait until orientation to get my vaccinations. Only two more weeks till orientation :)
