nj salary survey

Published

i am putting together a salary survey for school. does anyone know what the top paying hopspital in NJ is.

The salary definitely goes up when you work closer to NYC or Phila. In the middle of NJ it is markedly lower. The "Raritan Bay Bridge" (it has another name) seems to be the dividing line. But factoring in time to travel, tolls, wear and tear on a vehicle etc.. the margins get a little closer. For a new grad...experience and education should be priority over $$$...get a good baseline knowledge, spread your wings and when you have established a repetoire then look more toward the $$ and perq's. Find a place that will help pay or cover cost of higher ed. or has multiple opportunites for advancement. A good thing is that so many of the hospitals are linked and inter-hospital transfers are possible..change jobs without losing time earned adn benefits. I work at Kimball Medical Center, part of Saint Barnabus...and it is a great place to start or finish a career..good"launching pad" ...very culturally diverse.. and "landing zone" enough variety to keep it challenging .

Hi, can anyone tell me what the pay scale is in either CentraState or Monmouth University is? I am moving to NJ and curious on how the salary is compared to NY. Thanks :)
hi just chiming in with some late night cant sleep too much on my mind advice dont think you can compare salary rates of nj and ny without comparing the cost of living: housing, car, insurance, food. i also dont think anyone on this thread is as far south as me i work for south jersey regional medical center, i make 40.00 an hour, my house is 2300 sq. feet and paid for on 1/2 acre with a water view, car insurance is approx 1200yr for three cars full coverage, my girlfriend works and lives in manhatten her apt is maybe 800 sq feet and her portion of the rent is like 1200month she cant afford to drive or maybe she cant afford to park her car but she says thats city life for ya well ya all can have the city i take country living any day. good luck and come south.

still curious about how long you have woked at south jersey regional medical center. it sounds like you work on a speciality unit. saleries in north carolina cannot compare otherwise, even though life style is similar.

NC student nurse here, missing NJ! Where is SJ Regional Medical Center? I moved 7 years ago from Burlington Co., and it seems that so many hospitals have changed their names...

kellyo SJ RMC is in cumberland county, vineland. maybe you remember we had three hosp in our county Millville, Bridgeton and Newcomb well they closed millville and newcomb completely. Bridgeton hosp is our satellite and we run what is supposed to be a limited ed out of it and psy is still there. if your missing nj enough to come back we hire new grads in the ed they recieve a six month long preceptorship. Michelle.

if your friend is going to be stationed at fort bragg in april and he'll be looking to do some moonlighting he might look at Cape Fear Valley Health System.

http://www.fayettevillenc.net/health.htm - he will also be in one of themore poulated parts of the state so he might want to tour the area and make another choice. but i think this is a good place to start.

I'd probably have to sell my soul in order to get my husband to move back up north, but I sure will try!

I do home IV infusion for a high tech pharmacy and make way good money. 61K for 25-40 hours a week. I'm full time but I never work a full 40. and that includes drive time.

Groovy...

Who do you work for?..

Are there openings?

I'm very surprised to hear that someone in South Jersey is making $40/hr. Around Monmouth County which certainly has a high cost of living, I think the nurses are tops $27/hr and that's with a night differential. $40 sounds more like a PerDiem rate. Some of the central NJ hospitals (Rahway) are offering $40 for per diem rate and if you work a third shift (they guarantee you two) you go to time and 1/2 of that rate ($60).

Agency work ranges from $48 to $55 per hour right now. I work agency. But as more per diem people have signed on to the $40 deal, I'm finding myself cancelled more than usual unless the census is thru the roof and they are "holding" patients everywhere.
