Published

Can this forum become a sticky?

Will consider making it a sticky. However keep in mind that this thread started in 2004, and salaries have undoubtably changed over the last 4 years....

What about Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ does anyone know what starting slary is? Does any one work there, if so do you like it?

I do clinical at Valley and the HR woman came to speak to us and would not quote a starting salary but said that it is somewhere around $26-28 per hour. From what I hear, Valley is one of the lower paying hospitals in Bergen County.

Well, if they are using the three 12-hour shifts per week for full-timers, you could do the math and figure out the salary (before taxes).

$26/hour = $48,672/year

$28/hour = $52,416/year

I recently interviewed at St Barnabas and Meridian hospitals, and they both offered $25/26 (Days) for new grads. About 31 for nights. :nurse:

I am a new grad in south jersey making 30.08 working nights in the ICU. I am part time, so I have to pay partial toward my benefits which really hurts me!

I work at one of the St. Barnabas hospitals (not as an RN yet) but I hear new grads coming in at $26/hr days with $5 differential for working nights! Also, if you go into the float pool it pays more also!

A met a nurse from Hackensack University Medical Center,. and she told me some nurses are doing $35 -$40 per.....8hr shifts there. Maybe someone here can confirm or deny this.

I have a friend who works @ HUMC and told me that this is accurate. HUMC is one of the highest paying hospitals in this area. I've also heard that its tough getting in....kinda "who you know"

Hospitals in Monmouth Cty do pay significantly less than those in NYC. If you live here, though, the difference in salary will be made up in commuting costs and time wasted commuting.

I just started my first RN position at Hoboken University Med Ctr on their

L & D unit. They pay $30.46 days & $33.96 nights then an additional $2/hr for your weekend shifts. Not too shabby!!

Congrats:yeah:, I assume the rate is for full time with full benefits?

When does the benefits kicks in?

Is there any change in starting pay for BSN vs. 2-yr RN?
