i am putting together a salary survey for school. does anyone know what the top paying hopspital in NJ is.
If working conditions are far better than other area hospitals and you can safley take care of your pa. what is the reason that you would not recommend SOCH to a new grad??? I did a rotation of clinicals there on a med-surg/tele unit and it seemed fine for a new grad.
Because they do not offer much in the way of education and they have a very disorganized orientation. They are very limited in what they offer to their nurses. I believe a new grad will learn and experience more at a teaching hospital.
Hi, can anyone tell me what the pay scale is in either CentraState or Monmouth University is? I am moving to NJ and curious on how the salary is compared to NY. Thanks :)
Poor........don't know the exact specifics, guess you'd have to apply, interview and see what you get offered. A few years ago I asked at Jersey Shore what someone with 5 years of experience would get and it was something like $21/hr with a $5 differential for nights. Forget that! Plus you'll pay 1.5% to the union......don't forget to factor in those union dues.
If you plan to live in Monmouth County your options are to either work for peanuts or shlep north to make money. You have to decide what the commute is worth to you. I have a friend who just took a job in Jersey City Med Ctr's new trauma unit and they offered her a base pay of $85,000. That's not bad for NJ.
If you don't need benefits you can try working agency. Pay rates vary between $36 to $55 per hour. But you have to be willing to schlep north or over to Camden to get consistant work.
If I had to choose between Monmouth Med Ctr and Centrastate, I'd choose Monmouth. Nicer place, more focus on education. I just prefer a teaching hospital.
Good luck!
Hi everyone: I'm planning to move to NJ in a few months. I've had an offer from a long term facility. does anyone know how much is the pay in these kind of facilities? How would the work would be like, maybe to boring?Thank you
I never worked in LTC as a nurse. It wouldn't be for me but if they are willing to sponsor you to come to the US I guess you could just come here and tough it out. That would allow you time to scout around and look for a better job when your commmitment to the LTC facility is over.
If they are offering you to come work here aren't they quoting you a salary at this point? I have heard of some LTC facilities paying in the $30 range but I think that's rare.
Good luck!

I doubt you would be bored, but you sure will be busy. NJ Nursing Homes are notorious for understaffing. How many pateints will you be passing meds and doing treatments on? Or are you taking a supervisor or DON position.

I grew up in the LBI area and SOCH does not have the greatest of reputations as far as care goes, but I think it has improved in the past few years. As far as working conditions and salary go, I have no clue.Well, as for reputations.. I was there for clinicals and did my ICU rotations there and I thought they were wonderful. The nurses went out of their way to teach us on their busy shifts. The ICU nurses were close to brilliant. I was very pleased with the 15 weeks I spent there. I work at DEBORAH HEART AND LUNG, so I am not even an employee at SOCH.
But, if I may rant and rave about how AWESOME DEBORAH is!!! I am externing there now and we are being treated with soooooooo much respect!!! The nurses, supervisors, evvveryone has so much pride! It's refreshing and I am so pumped up to be there!!!
Nice to hear Deborah Heart and Lung is still a great place to work. I spent 13 yrs there and it truly is a terrific place. I moved to Iowa 4 yrs ago and boy did I stumble trying to find anything remotely resembling Deborah's good staffing and administration. Luckily I found a comfortable place to work. Enjoy your career there!

as you said, they're sponsoring me, and that's a big deal . I've had some other offers, but they weren't so attractive for me. I'm tavelling with my family. So, I thought this offer was interesting. The pay?, it's around 32/h. My question was about if it would be to boring, but it seems you can't help me. thank you anyway. I think I could deal with it since in my country there's a large population of old people, so I'm used to take care of the olds. i really think they're great. since I've been a nurse for almost 21 years , and worked in several facilities(ER;ICU; L&B), it would be like starting in something new and relaxing. Tnaks a lot.
Curiosity; What VA do you work at & what state? In Michigan, it is a lot less for RN BSN c that experience>>>
I make $48/hour working night shift at VA facillity. I have 14 yrs. experience & have BSN. We don't pay to park. Downside is well, it is the VA. & all those stories you have heard are most likely true.
I have been in case management for about 4 years. I am curious to know what the going salary is for case managers. Since I got a raise when I left the bedside to do this I thought my pay was good. But in speaking with a case manager for an insurance company she seems to be making more. None of my co-workers talk about salary so I don't know how mine compares to anyone eles. Can someone help me out?:uhoh21:
I've worked in a southern New Jersey rehab hospital for nearly a decade. Our union did substantial improvements in our pay scale a couple of years ago. Most jobs start in the lower to mid twenties, (23), for RNs, and the parking is FREE, meals are reduced rate, benefits good but educational reimbursement could be better. It's really great to be 10 minutes from th bach, though. The larger area hospitals in Atlantic City and environs offer good pay, good benefits, bonus at Christmas (750.00) and some sign-ons.Wish you luck, we could us some help down here!
