nj salary survey

U.S.A. New Jersey

i am putting together a salary survey for school. does anyone know what the top paying hopspital in NJ is.

I grew up in the LBI area and SOCH does not have the greatest of reputations as far as care goes, but I think it has improved in the past few years. As far as working conditions and salary go, I have no clue.

Well, as for reputations.. I was there for clinicals and did my ICU rotations there and I thought they were wonderful. The nurses went out of their way to teach us on their busy shifts. The ICU nurses were close to brilliant. I was very pleased with the 15 weeks I spent there. I work at DEBORAH HEART AND LUNG, so I am not even an employee at SOCH.

But, if I may rant and rave about how AWESOME DEBORAH is!!! I am externing there now and we are being treated with soooooooo much respect!!! The nurses, supervisors, evvveryone has so much pride! It's refreshing and I am so pumped up to be there!!!

Specializes in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.

I do home IV infusion for a high tech pharmacy and make way good money. 61K for 25-40 hours a week. I'm full time but I never work a full 40. and that includes drive time.

I just got job at JFK in edison 29.60 for nights. Was going to work for meridian ( jersey shore, riverview, or medical center of ocean cnty)which was 27.50 for nights. But i like being up north for now, might relocate closer to the city after a year of nursing here.:balloons:

Are they offering any sign up Bonus?

Or the Boom in Nursing field is already subsiding?

I always look at Employment section for Nursing and see very few advertisements compared to last year.

What is the starting pay for a new graduate?

oops new at these boards.!:uhoh3:

Are you BRAND NEW NURSE?? Or a BRAND NEW MESSAGE BOARD USER???

Those were the rates for new grads, i just graduated in may and passed NCLEX last week. As fas as sign on bonuses, i didnt find a hospital in NJ that would offer a sign on bonus.

I plan on applying at both these hospitals (jersey shore and JFK) good to know how well JFK is paying. Let me know how you like it there. What was your impression of Meridian when you applied there? Thanks for the info. Feel free to PM me! Thanks,

Jaime :)

I did most of my clinicals for school at Riverview ( Meridian), and a few makeups at Jersey shore, and also externed at Riverview. These hospitals treat their nurses very well from my perspective. I wanted a change though thats why I decided to work a lil more up north. All the Meridian hospitals are Magnet hospitals and as far as I think , they are all welll kept, clean, great Docs, and the employees seem to be happy.

Im at my 2nd week of training at JFK, so far I like it. But it seems to be a little disorganized because they are switching their computer systems. The pay is good for a new grad. Ill keep you updated as I get to know the hospital better.

When will you be graduating and fomr what school?

Hey, thanks for replying! I graduate in dec. (knock on wood :chuckle ) and happen to live close to JFK. I know that it's a nice place to work. Which floor are you on? I'm doing my externship at St. Peter's in new brunswick so it's kind of between those three hospitals that I hope to get a job in an ER(my 1st choice is jersey shore b/c its a trauma and also from the good things I've heard about it). How do you like the pts./other employees in general so far at JFK? I alway hear what nice people are at Jersey shore in terms of managers and other RNs. Good luck!

Hi all!

I just passed the NCLEX last week and have my NY license. I am moving to NJ in the very near future(like a month or so) and would like some info on some hospitals. I am thinking of going to St. Peter's, Bayshore, Raritan Bay, CentraState, or Riverview......I have no idea which of these pays the most and has the best conditions. Can anybody tell me anything about these places? I went to CentraState and they offered me a position on 5N Orthopaedics and that was it. The only thing they had open for me....does that make sense with the major nursing shortage?? They also would not tell me what the salary was. I would have to go meet with someone else for that. Well, NY is paying upwards of $60K to $65K per year....I have checked out some places. I really don't want to work in NY but who knows. I have another interview set up with Raritan Bay in August. I just sent in for my NJ license and heard that it may take months. That is very discouraging with the nursing shortage.

Please anybody with any advice on any of these hospitals write me and let me know. It is so confusing to be a new RN out there.....:uhoh3:

Is that in NYC or elsewhere?

Thanks!

Hi. Staten Island is paying $60K w/diff. St. Vinnys's starts at $60K w/diff

NYC is paying $60K+ at certain hospitals.

Brooklyn is paying $60K+ (Methodist is starting at $62,500K)

New contracts are underway and the salaries will be going up in May from what I have heard from friends.

Hope that helps!

I need the NJ info because that is where I am moving and I have 2 small children to worry about.
