i am putting together a salary survey for school. does anyone know what the top paying hopspital in NJ is.

Probably could but won't as this is public domain & I really do want to keep my job- even though there is not supposed to be retaliation trust me there is.

i am moving back to nj from fl. i went to nursing school here in fl because of the long waiting list in nj. i graduated dec 18th 2003 as an lpn.

the pay in fl stinks, fl needs to put the crack pipe down!and the cost of living is rising.

what are the salary ranges in ocean & monmouth counties for an lpn?? i've lived in the ocean county area my whole life & i'm eger to move back:coollook:.

i'm in the process of endorsing my license to nj, i did it a month ago and still havent heard anything!!!

please write back,

Yes, I did my 3rd semester clinicals there last semester! It's a wonderful hospital. It will definatley be expanding in the future. The ICU is a wonderful dept. They do not have a peds floor yet, but that won't be for long. Also, everytime a new baby is born they play "twinkle twinkle little star.." over the overhead. The hospital was a built on an ond Indian graveyard, so strange things happen there... Even the staff and supervisors will tell ya that! WIERD NJ!!! Overall I had a wonderful exp. there. If ya have questions just ask! Where do you goto school? I'm @ Ocean County College....

oops new at these boards.!:uhoh3:

i'm not sure what the pay scale is for lpns in nj.......but i have heard that you can do fairly well working agency in long term care or assisted living facilities......like $30-$34/hr. look around and see what's out there. i also know that some of the long term ventilator units utilize lpns and are paying fairly well too.........kindred at rahway hospital is one place i know that uses lpns.

good luck.

Im moving to Jersey!!!!

JaimealmostRN,

Which Jersey shore hospital? We have Shore Memorial in Ocean City, Burdette Tomlin Memorial in Cape May Court House, Bacharach Rehab (I forget its exact location), Atlantic City Medical Center (2 branches in Atlantic City Offshore and Mainland). Of course this is the deep South Jersey Shore...all the way at the tip. I can't really address pay as an SPN. Yet all hospitals have websites. Perhaps toward the end of school or after graduation, you could schedule appointments, they all hire new RN grads. Myself I am going "State" you can't beat the pay, especially as an LPN, $26 for weekends 3-11. (Naw I am not in it for the money, I just realized early on in rotation, hospital nursing is not my gig. I love the medsurg floor we are on and the nurses are fabulous but I am drawn to psych nursing, r/t my social work background.)

Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

Tres

I'm not sure what the pay scale is for LPNs in NJ.........Kindred at Rahway hospital is one place I know that uses LPNS.

Good luck.

I am not sure how the Kindred floor is at Rahway (I believe its run by a seperate company), but a word of advice to all...I would AVOID Rahway hospital at all costs. I don't want to give too many details, but it's a risky place for anyone who has a lisence.

ps. sorry about spelling errors (no spell check today).

Dear JaimealmostRN,

I wouldn't go to such an extreme as to single out Rahway as risky.......I have worked in alot of different hospitals and continue to do time at Rahway through the agency. It is no different there than anyplace else.......overworked, short staffed, etc. Quite honestly, I find that the nurse patient ratio is very workable at Rahway as compared to many places I have worked.

Re: Kindred........it is a private company who runs the unit........they are working on their hospital within a hospital license. I have also worked there and found it just not my cup of tea. All I said in my previous post is that if you're a LPN looking to make money.........theses kind of places pay well. I didn't say you wouldn't work your ____ off. You will work very hard for the money.........5 or 6 vented patients per nurse. Like I said, it wasn't for me and I certainly didn't like the responsiblity of caring for my own 5 or 6 nurses and then being legally responsible for a LPN's other 5 or 6 patients. I prefer to be accountable for my own work not others work too.

I am firmly sticking to my opinion. Rahway is a scary place (for employees and patients). I do not wish to insult you b/c I know that you are an intelligent, hard working person. But for anyone applying there (with exception of Kindred b/c run by other company) I'd do your homework and maybe shadow someone on your perspective unit to see how it really is. JMO and I'm sticking to it.

I grew up in the LBI area and SOCH does not have the greatest of reputations as far as care goes, but I think it has improved in the past few years. As far as working conditions and salary go, I have no clue.
