NJ IV/Phlebotomy Certification Classes

Specializes in Post-Surgical, Urology, Short Procedures.

My coworker and I are both RNs. We work in an Office-Based Surgery setting and see patients for both office visits and procedures with anesthesia. We have been seeing an increased need for us to start IVs or draw blood and would like to become certified/take a course. Does anyone know of any classes in NJ? Specifically Northern NJ if possible..Thanks!

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

UMDNJ University hospital in Newark has one I believe, for IV. UMDNJ - School of Nursing | but it seems both May & June are filled

Hi NurseKate~

Try looking into any community college in your area. Brookdale offers some IV courses for nurses but that's in Monmouth County.

Good luck to you!

you can check out the website Nha on this site u can take the phlebotomy test.

I didn't want to make the trip to Newark (I live in way way way up - North Jersey). CCM (Community College of Morris) offers an IV Cert course. It was difficult to find on the website, so I called. 1 day and done! The professor was very nice and knowledgeable and the class was small, I think there were only 12 of us.

Good Luck!

How much was the class?

It was $149 - if I remember correctly....I took it in November 2012 :) I remember it being A LOT cheaper than UMDNJ! I think they were around $300!

Awesome! Thanks!!

There is no such statement from the State Board of Nursing in New Jersey that says an online course is invalid. Please provide a link on where you get this information. Many nurses take online IV education courses and the employer performs the skills competency varification. Online education is a great way to obtain infusion education.

Can LPN's take an IV cert course?

Specializes in AGACNP-BC/Emergency/Trauma/Critical Care Nursing.

I think LPNs can take the course but IV therapy scope of practice can vary by states and facilities that you are working.....definitely call them and check!! I am not really sure.....

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Did you receive an actual certification after taking the CCM course? Because I registered but want to take sure it's an actual certification.

Thank you.
