2013 NIU nursing students (prospective!)

Published

Hello there! I am a prospective NIU Nursing student! I currently have a 3.9 GPA and I got a 110 on the Accuplacer... I have gotten into all my other schools like AU, Bradley, Western IL, Saint Xavier, but I sit here waiting on NIU! Does anybody know when NIU will contact you if you got in (transfer students)? I am very eager! NIU is my goal school and I got into all my other options, but I WANT NIU THE MOST! The suspense is killing me and anybody with more info I would greatly appreciate it! OR anybody else who is applying to NIU for 2013 join in! I'm curious to see what the prospective students are bringing to the table! Chat with ya later.

Hi! I applied to NIU too. They send their letters out in April. Last year it was about mid-April. I just looked at the calendar, can't believe we only have one week left of March!

I am not done with my pre-reqs and it sounds like in last year's thread, someone reported that someone from NIU said that people that weren't finished were probably placed in the Spring starting semester. Since their program is 5 semesters, not sure if I want to take another full year to graduate vs the other program I applied to (AU). But who knows, maybe things will be different this year!

Good luck with your app! :)

Thanks for the info! Good lick to you too! It stinks you have to wait so long, but march flew by! I am taking micro, anatomy 2, chem, and an elective right now so all i would need is nutrition still. If i get put into spring i'd probably still go cause I cannot afford the other schools besides AU! So hopefully we get in so we can start in a program!

Luck* .... Autocorrect. Lol

I'm here, (im)patiently waiting for a letter! NIU is the only school I applied to so I'm kind of screwed if I don't get accepted. I have a 4.0 and got a 118 on my Accuplacer, though, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about. *crossing fingers*

I did notice that MyNIU says that I can register on April 8th. Is that some sort of indication on when we'll find out? Or do all the first year students take the same schedule so it doesn't really matter anyway?

WOW! Your a great canidate too, a 4.0! I think they want all students to register and acceltbtheir admission offer... Which most schools do to sway you. BUT lets cut to the chase, we want in tge nursing programbefore we start pirring down deposits. Lol

Please excuse my typo's lol... Got to lice Iphones and autocorrect! ...

also lacie! Ive heard we have to still wait till the end of April.... :( but maybe we will hear back earlier? I wont accept my admission till i know if I am in or not!

In order for your transcripts to be evaluated you have to accept admission. It doesn't really mean anything. And what is really annoying is that they have mandatory orientation sessions for first year students and transfers. $75 and the first one occurs in April right before letters go out. I almost paid for one (since the next orientation isn't til July and you can't register til you go through orientation).

Yes, I accepted admission last fall to get my transcripts evaluated and all that jazz. The orientation thing is bugging me - I have SO much stuff going on in July already that I would love to do the April orientation, but I don't see how you could do orientation without knowing if you're in!

If you want to do orientation in April, i think it is $85 + $3 processing fees.

Hi, I applied as an NIU transfer student as well, haven't heard anything back yet. I had emailed them twice b/c I was confused - I received the 'Welcome to NIU' folder with a letter saying I had applied for pre-nursing. I just wanted to make sure that I did actually apply as a transfer student, but no response :( I'm assuming they're just busy going through applications.
