Nightingale College Fall 2020 Start

Published

Hello!

I'm really excited to start my ABSN program in Nightingale College this fall. I have an AS degree in another allied health field but have always felt like nursing was calling to me....and so here I go! Anyone else starting this fall 2020 or has anyone graduated from Nightingale's ABSN program and wouldn't mind sharing some of their experience? I've done a number of searches but can't seem to find a whole lot of anything on them....

Hi Jeannie! I just saw your comment today that was from Jan 31st. I’m 8 weeks into my first semester and it’s going food so far. I am taking 5 classes right now and still working full time. It is ALOT of work. But do able. Good luck!

Hi, I am planning on starting the BSN program at Nightingale College in may 2021. I live in California. How is the program going so far?

I am going to start in Summer.  It is good so far as many credits can be transferred and tested out to waive classes.  I am from California too.  On the school website it said that it is approved by the state but not by BON.  Does that mean just that one class we need to have before endorsing the license later on to California?  Thanks.

@ksgurl2 So it is not truly 2 weeks. I can't find the schedule now, but at the beginning of the term as few weeks okay they listed it out by each Clinical class. If I can find it again I'll post it. But it is actually anywhere from 5 days to 21 days depending on the class and that includes travel to the site and back. Only the last Clinical class is 21 days most were listed between 5 and I think 14 days. However, due to COVID this term for my BSN 205 and I been told possible for BSN 225 next term it is all online with all clinical assignments virtually done through TEAMs and video submission.

Hi, can you update about if those clinicals are still online? I am thinking of joining this program but they are telling me it would take 3 years which makes no sense since I have all GEs completed besides Technical Writing.

Hi everyone! I’m starting the BSN program with  nightingale and was wondering how others are doing in the program so far? Do you like it? I’m also wondering how hoard it is... I’m and LVN With a ton of other classes so my program Is only 16months. But each semesters I’m taking 4-5 classes... is it hard to juggle all the classes? Any info anyone can share would be appreciated!

Hey can you lmk what classes you have left to take to make your program length only 16 months? They are trying to tell me it would take me 3 years but I have all GEs complete so that time doesnt really make sense

The class I transferred over were

-Anatomy, micro, phys,ENG, Algebra,Stats, Nutrition, Psychology, History, Anthropology, philosophy and then my LVN took a few of the nursing classes off as well. I’ll attempt a picture of what the whole program would be if you didn’t have any classes. That way you can see what you have or what else you may need ?

Hey thanks for that they have already sent me that form and I have completed anatomy, physiology, English 1, algebra, psychology, nutrition, sociology, statistics, western civilization, Microbiology, communication, cultural anthropology , and philosophy.

so literally all 48 of the GE credits besides technical writing . Then Pathophysiology I’m taking on portage learning now. So I am not sure why they are saying it will take me more than 24 months if I have all GEs complete. How many of the nursing courses did you have transferred over ?

Hi, I am in my second semester now and my clinicals are still online but with covid winding down I think there is a good chance they will be in person next semester. They are requiring us to get the vaccine in order to participate in on-ground in the coming semesters.

Hey,

it will take that long because you can only take one clinical-nursing class a semester, so 7 semesters is the minimum if you are not a nurse already such as an Lpn/Lvn who can have certain nursing classes with clinical portions waived. Should be a little less than 3 years if you have all the GE though since it’s 3 semesters a year.

Hi Kailee, I'm also in CA & looking to enroll w/ Nightingale sometime late next year. I am currently in LVN school here in CA and finishing up my last 3 classes with SL as well. Can you answer a few questions for me?

-Do I have to be a LVN for a certain period of time before applying for Nightingale?

-Do I have to take A&P 1 & 2 with lab or only the A&P alone? I see on the form you provided it only states A&P and doesn't mention lab. (I have already finished A&P 1 w/lab & A&P 2 w/lab, working on finishing my Microbio lab at the moment, but already took Microbio class) Does Anatomy have to be separate from Physiology?

-Where do CA students do clinicals, considering LV isn't an option? How often do you travel? I'm willing to travel out of state.

-How is the work load so far in your opinion? Are you able to work on the side as an LVN?

-Finally, considering I will be coming in to the program as an LVN, will I be able to also finish in 16 months? (I have all the same classes you have as well, working on pathophysiology soon to transfer in)

Thank you so much & I wish you nothing but the best on your journey to RN!

Anatomy and physiology don’t have to be separate but need to have the labs so that you have 8 credits total between the two. This term almost all remote learners are traveling to Fort Collins Colorado for clinical.

Also, not sure what SL is standing for but just to let you know Nightingale is no longer accepting credits from Straighter Line it Study.com. They stopped on April 15, 2021. I can’t answer your questions about the LVN as I’m not an LVN. Hope this helps.

-No

Do I have to take A&P 1 & 2 with lab or only the A&P alone? I see on the form you provided it only states A&P and doesn't mention lab. (I have already finished A&P 1 w/lab & A&P 2 w/lab, working on finishing my Microbio lab at the moment, but already took Microbio class) Does Anatomy have to be separate from Physiology?

-If you want to take your NCLEX in CA then you have to have lab with your science classes. I don’t think it matters if your anatomy and physiology class we’re together or not.

-Where do CA students do clinicals, considering LV isn't an option? How often do you travel? I'm willing to travel out of state.

-Each semester is different. I’m doing my in Colorado Springs. My program is four semesters and I have clinicals 3/4 of my semesters. Ranging from 8-12 days depending on which class you’re taking. & my third clinical will be my preceptor with a RN and it’s about 21 days.

-How is the work load so far in your opinion? Are you able to work on the side as an LVN?

-Im still working full time. Depending on which classes you have put together for each semester will depend on your work load. The BSN classes like English, writing and oral communication was very time consuming & took a lot of effort. The nursing classes aren’t to bad though.

-Finally, considering I will be coming in to the program as an LVN, will I be able to also finish in 16 months? (I have all the same classes you have as well, workingon pathophysiology soon to transfer in)

It just matters on how many classes you have and since your an LVN you can try and test out of Pharm 1 and take two other HESI exams and try to test out of them.

If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask!
