Nightingale College Fall 2020 Start

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello!

I'm really excited to start my ABSN program in Nightingale College this fall. I have an AS degree in another allied health field but have always felt like nursing was calling to me....and so here I go! Anyone else starting this fall 2020 or has anyone graduated from Nightingale's ABSN program and wouldn't mind sharing some of their experience? I've done a number of searches but can't seem to find a whole lot of anything on them....

Do I have to be a LVN for a certain period of time before applying for Nightingale?

-No

Do I have to take A&P 1 & 2 with lab or only the A&P alone? I see on the form you provided it only states A&P and doesn't mention lab. (I have already finished A&P 1 w/lab & A&P 2 w/lab, working on finishing my Microbio lab at the moment, but already took Microbio class) Does Anatomy have to be separate from Physiology?

-If you want to take your NCLEX in CA then you have to have lab with your science classes. I don’t think it matters if your anatomy and physiology class we’re together or not.

-Where do CA students do clinicals, considering LV isn't an option? How often do you travel? I'm willing to travel out of state.

-Each semester is different. I’m doing my in Colorado Springs. My program is four semesters and I have clinicals 3/4 of my semesters. Ranging from 8-12 days depending on which class you’re taking. & my third clinical will be my preceptor with a RN and it’s about 21 days.

-How is the work load so far in your opinion? Are you able to work on the side as an LVN?

-Im still working full time. Depending on which classes you have put together for each semester will depend on your work load. The BSN classes like English, writing and oral communication was very time consuming & took a lot of effort. The nursing classes aren’t to bad though.

-Finally, considering I will be coming in to the program as an LVN, will I be able to also finish in 16 months? (I have all the same classes you have as well, workingon pathophysiology soon to transfer in)

It just matters on how many classes you have and since your an LVN you can try and test out of Pharm 1 and take two other HESI exams and try to test out of them.

If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask!

You are SO awesome for responding with a your valuable info. Thank you, Kailee! I truly appreciate this. I wouldn’t mind Colorado, it isn’t that far. Can you tell me what the other 2 HESI exams are besides Pharm 1 that I can test out of? What should I review prior to applying? My LVN school used ATI. Is there an entrance exam, like ATI or HESI to gain entry to Nightingale? Or is it their own custom exam?

Anatomy and physiology don’t have to be separate but need to have the labs so that you have 8 credits total between the two. This term almost all remote learners are traveling to Fort Collins Colorado for clinical.

Also, not sure what SL is standing for but just to let you know Nightingale is no longer accepting credits from Straighter Line it Study.com. They stopped on April 15, 2021. I can’t answer your questions about the LVN as I’m not an LVN. Hope this helps.

Wow, so they don’t accept SL anymore? That’s discouraging. Well, now I only have 1 school that I know that will accept them. Thank you for telling me, @Slamp I will re confirm with an advisor. But the majority of my prep for classes to transfer are with SL. I’m really bummed about that now. I’ve never heard of study.com, how do those classes work?

I’m also starting with Nightingale College in the Fall 2020 but in the BSN program with clinicals in Colorado Springs. This will be my second bachelors degree. Best of luck to you.

Hey how is the program so far??

Hi, I am in my second semester now and my clinicals are still online but with covid winding down I think there is a good chance they will be in person next semester. They are requiring us to get the vaccine in order to participate in on-ground in the coming semesters.

Hey are the classes on zoom with classmates and teacher or self taught by watching lecture videos??

Hey if any current students could give an update of the program that would be great ??

are classes on zoom with classmates and teacher or are we self teaching by watching prerecorded lectures ?

I am mainly referring to the nursing courses!! Bc I have already completed all 48 of the general electives besides the technical writing one. In terms of technical writing does anyone have a school they could recommend for me to take that at online so I could save some money by transferring that over !!

Does anyone on here know if Nightengale college accepts courses from places similar to Straighterline? I have to retake a micro W/ lab and really don't want to take that class at my local community college.

They use to but stop taking them after April 15, 2021.

Can anyone please give me an update on how the school is going. I plan on attending in January. However I read about the legal issues the school is having, So I’m a little bit hesitant.

My advisor said that they are going to be regionally accredited starting in April and that the hotels near where they place you offer discounts is any of that true?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to know if nightingale college is approved by the California board of Registered Nursing. I'm planning to start this school BSN program coming January and wondering if it's possible to sit for NCLEX in California and obtain CA RN license upon  completion of the program/passing.
