I work 1800-0700 on a surgical floor. I am amazed at how many patients think we actually sleep at night. :icon_lol: I've even had them apologize for "waking me", and "gee, honey, I hope you can get some sleep." Explaining to them doesn't usually change their perception.
Not a biggie, but surprised me when it first happened.

i work at a LTC facility and i do the 3-11/ 11-7 shift and some people Mostly CNA's (although nurses do too) sleep. I personally find that hard to do with the call bells constantly ringing and patients constantly wanting PAIN meds! But more importantly if I happen to fall asleep I feel like crap when i go to pass meds so i steer clear of the sleeping route!
This whole thread just kinda amazed me. I have worked nights for about 25 yrs. I can't sleep anytime but daytime.Everytime I had to come in for any kind of inservice the daylight just killed me and I could not stay awake until almost time to go home (around 3-4 pm). Vacations are a hard for me too. I just cannot stay awake enough to have a good time so we usually go to Vegas. Different gigs for different figs I guess.

I worked as a supervisor in LTC and had to go around waking people up, especially the ones that were snoring. Of coorifice they denied that they were sleeping.
