A pt's family came in on day shift and demanded to know the name of the person that had taken the time to care for the mom the last couple of days because she was soooooo happy about the care... Well the family was there when my shift came in this afternoon and the lady comes rolling up and kicks me in the leg and then hugs me and tells her family "This is my Pest that takes such good care of me" they all started laughing....

Well, I wasn't called a nickname per se, but I was told I was smarter than I looked!

I had a resident that used to call me biggen. I'm 6'2 and overweight. Never could remember my name, but always knew if he called for biggen and I was working, that I was coming to help him.

Have been called "Red" due to my hair color, just last night one of my terminal pt's ( that is talking again) called me 'The changer" cause she needed changing. And the one time had a very tall pt over 6.6 ft that called my a "Hobbit" cause I am only 5 ft and had to stand back and look up at him, so that's how Nurse Hobbit got to be my nickname.

I was a new grad on a psych unit. I must have looked young an innocent because one the bipolar patients (who was extrodinarily funny) kept calling me a candy striper, even though I was her nurse. I would be walking down the hall towards her and she would start..."oh looky, here comes the candy striper!"

When I was a CNA in LTC, I got called "Bonnie" for a week by both residents in a room. (Not my name)
Later I found out it was the stepdaughter of one of them.
