NH applicants 2015

I thought I would start a thread for anyone applying for the nursing program starting in 2015. I've applied to WMCC, LRCC, GBCC. The only school I think I have a good chance at is LRCC, but since I'm about a hour drive from each of them I figured I would go ahead and apply to them all. Going to be a long few months waiting for a decision.

rockyshorz, I received a receipt of my deposit (along with a new charge for orientation fee!) in the mail this past week. Have you received one yet? If not, you may want to call and make sure yours is all set. I can't wait until orientation, I'm so anxious to start buying supplies! Haha

Jessica,

I had a 96% Adjusted Individual Total Score on the TEAS that I took in October 2014, and received an A in A&P I. I was in the middle of finishing A&P II when I applied in the fall. I have a previous Bachelor's degree that I finished just a few years ago, so I know I had a bit of a leg up not being out of school for long.

However, all of the CCSNH list the minimum requirements because they are exactly that, minimums. When I spoke with admissions at NHTI they said they weighted most heavily the TEAS score. You may have completed high school classes years ago, but the TEAS is a good indicator of how you are doing in English/math/science right now. Yes A&P and Micro will give you extra points. They recommend you get them done first as the nursing classes are tough enough on their own/take up so much time, plus it is helpful to have a strong basis in that knowledge before beginning. But that doesn't mean it's impossible.

I would double check about the wait list. I know that at NHTI and MCC there is no wait list roll over from year to year. If you do not get in one year you have to reapply, there is no special consideration.

I know it is more expensive, but just an FYI if you already have a four year degree you may be better off going into an accelerated BSN program, especially since trying to find a job as an ADN has become more and more difficult as more hospitals want to hire BSN only!

I went to NHTI and it is a great program, but if you can finish the BSN in the same amount of time, do that instead!!

I got my acceptance letter to Great Bay. Now I don't know what to do. It seems like Lakes Region is still planning on having the fall term despite the recommendation from the BON that they not. Great Bay is only an extra 15 mins away, but when you are already going 75 mins it seems like a lot more. I'd rather stay at Lakes since that's where I've been taking classes, but I'll hate myself if I do and the BON takes away their approval of the program. The safest path seems to be Great Bay but then I've got to pay another $100 to them and the one from Lakes is non-refundable. Plus the books at Great Bay is about $200 more. I also will need to pay to have my CLEP transcript sent to them and I think that's $50. This all adds up.

I'm #9 on the waitlist for Great Bay, but I'm having a really difficult time getting in contact with the admissions person to find out whether or not I've moved up on the list this past month. I'm crossing my fingers that I get in! It sucks that I can't figure out what my fall plans are (I'm currently a preschool teacher and they are wondering if I'll be back in the fall...) Has anyone heard anything about the size of waitlist or how quickly it usually moves up? Thanks!

Email (MODERATOR EDIT OF EMAIL - PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING THAT IDENTIFIES ANYONE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) to find out your spot on the waitlist, I was #2 and I receive an acceptance letter

about two weeks ago. I had emailed her and heard right back from her about when to expect letters to go out. Good luck.

I have emailed over two weeks ago, but haven't heard back yet. I'll try again:) Thanks for the reply!

This includes emails and initials of those in your program.

Thank you.

I haven't heard any info about how the waitlist works but I would be surprised if Great Bay was still accepting alternates. The mandatory orientation was this past Monday and we already have deadlines coming up quickly for the technical requirements. Like I said, I don't know this for sure, but if they were to accept more people they'd have to do it pretty soon in order to give them enough time to complete the requirements for Fall.
