  1. I think OP has the right to focus on what SHE wants when it comes to her future career goals...that's not immature at all. OP, if you don't think nursing is for you then by all means, find what IS for you. Completing a degree for a career you aren't interested in is a big waste of time and money. Obviously, think long and hard about this decision but if it's not for you that's ok! You're only 21, that is still very young...no reason to rush big decisions like this. Good luck!
  2. I'm about to complete my first clinical rotation, I always bring: stethoscope, comfortable shoes, compression socks, big hair clip or elastics, more black pens than I'll ever need, watch with a second hand, notebook small enough to fit in my scrub pocket, ibuprofen, water bottle, and a small snack-usually a banana or energy bar. That's honestly all I've needed, I bring my scissors and permanent marker but I've only used them once. Good luck! You'll be a nervous wreck the first day, everyone is, but each day you'll get more and more comfortable!
  3. I start my ADN program on August 31st! I'll be taking "Nursing I" which is a 9 credit class including lecture, lab and clinical, Mon-Th. I just finished buying all of my supplies and books and completing all of the health, etc. requirements...now I'm just trying to enjoy the rest of summer and spend time with my daughter before the craziness begins! I'm expecting it to be stressful and time consuming, I think I'm prepared in that way...I also work and have a family so it's gonna be a lot but I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Good luck to all of you!
  4. That's probably a good idea...mine was on our booklist under the recommended section.
  5. I just bought the Saunders Nursing Drug Handbook 2015, only because it was recommended by my school.
  6. Thanks for this post! As a nursing student it's comforting to know that it's normal for the "icky" stuff to bother me...as long as the patient doesn't know!
  7. There were definitely a few chem questions...specifically I remember having to balance a few chemical equations.
  8. Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway... Earl Nightingale
  9. Any specific channels you can recommend?
  10. I'm interested in more info about this too...are there any that accept nursing students??
  11. This happens to me also when using the app on my phone. Try opening it with safari or internet explorer, it works for me that way.
  12. You forgot about it?!
  13. "You'd think if the hospital is going to spy on their nurses, they'd make the cameras a little more inconspicuous..."
  14. I'm sorry sir, but your home care visits don't include home repairs...
  15. Youtube: MathAntics It is a very helpful channel for basic math skills and explains concepts very clearly.
