The location for NGCSU ASN program is North Metro College in Acworth. I just got the information in the mail today.
Thank Goodness! Now I can finally proceed with my plans.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the booklist is on the NGCSU website now. I know that several have asked which books to get so check out the fall booklist. There is a link on the book store page of the website. It will be in small print halfway down the page. It looks like there are only one or two new ones on the list. If you see several different choices of the same type book for example drug guides etc., we were told to pick one that we liked best. Good luck to everyone this year!!
Yes, got the book list on Friday and Jules and I "shopped" for the best prices. Seems Barnes and Noble is the cheapest all around, even if you have to buy the $25. I saved $60 (not including the $25 I paid for the membership, so actually $35) off of the price I was quoted at Books a Million. If you order them online you save the most, but they are still cheaper than Books a Million, and we are assuming they are cheaper than the campus bookstore. The only one B&N didn't have was the Fundamentals of Nursing Pkg., so we are heading up to the main campus to pick those up, hopefully Wednesday. Boy, do we have a lot of information to cover!! Yikes!

Hello, everyone!
Someone at my school, today, told me about http://www.addall.com -- she said that she comparison shops for all of her textbooks from this site. I haven't had the opportunity to look into it, yet.
Might be worth checking out.
Lisa, if you don't mind me asking -- approximately how much are all the books adding up to? I know they said to expect books for first year to cost between $500.00-$600.00, but I was kinda' hoping this figure included books from some of the prereq classes that perhaps some others had yet to complete. After checking out the book list from the bookstore, my guess is that I was wrong...ten 'required' books for the first Fundamentals class? Yikes!!!
Did you guys buy the majority of your books at B&N online, or from the store, itself? What is the $25.00 membership fee you were talking about? I haven't heard of that...
Also, anyone know, yet, where clinicals are going to be held?
Can't wait, guys!!! Anybody else getting as excited as I am?

Lisa and I went shopping last week. We both found Barnes and Noble to have the best price. I am assuming they are less then the campus bookstore and it is convenient for us. The $25 is to be in their member club. Which gives you 10% off all books. Their prices with the discount was better than most of the ones listed on ADDALL.com(I checked it). Although you do have to pay the member fee, I thought it would pay for itself quickly. Which campus will you be attending. I am at Acworth and Lisa is at Gainesville.

I found 3 of the books I needed at the actual store. I ordered the rest online today and spent 299.14. I spent $175 yesterday at the store, but bought a $16 book not on the list and a $35 Davis Drug Guide, not on the list. This also does not included the Fundamentals of Nursing Pkg., which looks like it will have to be purchased from the school. So, I spent approx $425 on books just on our school list, and expect the other to cost about $175. Definitely worth checking out B&N. I priced ecampus.com and Books a Million. They beat both! Jules and I are going to check the prices when we go pick up our Fundamentals book :) just to see how we did on our value shopping!
Good luck everyone.

Hi again! I just checked addall.com, and it showed B&N to be the cheapest - so you did good Jules! Oh, by the way, shipping is free if you order is over $25 (which when ordering these books is no problem!). I've lost my receipt from yesterday, so I can't compare the price beween in the store and online.
Yes, I am very excited and very nervous! :) I wish you guys were going to be with me at Gainesville. I've only met one girl who goes to Gainesville, and she is a second year student.
Good luck to you, and keep in touch! I'm sure you'll meet Jules when you get in class.

Last year, I found most of my books at http://www.bruisedbooks.com. They note that some may be scratched, dented etc, but mine were in perfect condition. I was able to even get a few marked down. Several also went to ecampus.com, I believe they offered free shipping too. Another note, if you can, invest in the fabric book covers. Office depot has them in jumbo size to fit the books. Another student had them and her books were in pretty good condition by the end of the year vs. looking beat up. I guess it shows how much we used our main fundamentals! I would also suggest a 3-4 inch binder, with the d rings. What we would do is take the syllabus apart by test sections and leave the rest in the large binder. This would help cut down on the paper and help to focus on the material you need. Just a few suggestions! I would also invest in a good rolling book bag, it really saves your back. Good luck. Pm if anyone has questions.
ReidMe, I don't know about a uniform store in Gwinnett -- but I feel sure that there is one close to you, somewhere, up I85. I do think there is one in Kennesaw, but that doesn't help you out much, right now. (Sorry!)I am also not looking forward to driving all the way to Dahlonega both days in August, but oh well. It's just two days.
It's a very small price to pay for getting in this Fall -- I'm so excited!!!
Here's to the "Thirty-something (+\-) Class of 2007!"
Woooo-hooooo!!! :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
6789 I am sorry for not calling, if you have my # pls. call. Also, I know there's a store in Town center malll for nurses uniform. It is called Life ... just next to JC penny. They have 10% discount for students. I am planning on going there this weekend to take advantage of the tax-free day. They have shoes for sale, and some uniforms. So a good time to shop, this weekend. They also carry stethescope and stuff.
I lost my communication for a while due to unstable cable line.
My question now is regarding Financial aid. I have only one class - Nursing and that 's only 5 hrs credit which pell doesn't pay if less that 6 cr. I need to take some classes online with NGCSU, anybody with this same issue, or similer? HELP!
Otherwise I am excited about coming fall, and hope to see you all. Can we car-pool 6789 or anybody else to go to MAIN Campus on the 15 and 17th, from this area? Woodstock, Kennesaw, Acworth etc.

Hi - regarding your question about Financial Aid, are you not taking the Nutrition class? It is a 1 credit class we are required to take. That is what brings me up to my 6 hours and makes me eligible for Financial Aid.
:)
Lisa
Yes, I'm taking the Nutrition class along with the Fundamentals class --- also puts me at 6 hours vs. 5 hours. (Not sure what I'm going to do for Spring, though...I also need 6 hours for my financial aid...). Anyway, thanks for the info about the uniform store at Towne Center. And yes, we can definitely carpool for the 15th and/or the 17th. If anybody else on this side of town wants to join us in our 'trek to gold town," let us know.
Hey guys, it's me again! I had the same problem last year 2nd semester. Most people in that boat took this nursing leadership class that is available. It is worth one hour and not hard at all. It's actually pretty fun. You decide your grade. The teacher gives you a list of ways to "earn" points and you earn as many as you would like your grade to be. I don't know anyone that made less than an "A". See you soon! :)
