GREAT NEWS! I hope that most will be happy with this decision!:)
There is a tremendous amount of work during your first year, but NGCSU is the BEST.
Best wishes to the Class of 2007.

Don't sweat it too much - I'm starting 2nd year at NGCSU in the fall and we had a lot of people in our class that had not taken AP II or Microbiology. The first semester of 1st year is not that heavy - you only go to class one day a week and have lab/clinicals one day a week, so a lot of people took it 1st semester. To me, 2nd semester of the first year was easier because that is the only class you have to take (nutrition is in the 1st semester). There is also summer semester between 1st and 2nd year, but you MUST have AP II AND Microbiology completed before beginning 2nd year!! Don't worry - you can do it!!
Congratulations on being accepted to the program!! :)

Eagle Girl Thanks for your insight I am friends with 12BRN (we took chemistry together) and she says you have been very helpful.
No problem - feel free to PM me with any other questions. I just read another post by you wondering how many students will be in your class. If they admitted the standard number that they have been to the Windy Hill location, you will probably have a class of about 40. Your location is also a lot like the Gainesville campus in that it is largely non-traditional (older) students - probably mid to upper 30s!

Eagle Girl,
Thanks for that info - I'm glad I won't feel like an "oldie" in the group! I've very excited. Also, I've called the Bookstore several times, the last being last week, and they still said they do not have the book list for 1st year nursing yet. She said to wait until mid-July, so I'm going to call on Friday and see if they are in yet. I'd like to go get them and start reading. As soon as I get them, I will PM you so you can give me and Jules advice on what to start reading. I also told Jules I will take her to the Uniform Store in Gainesville to get her uniform. You have been a great source of information! Thanks so much.

Those people at the bookstore are not helpful at all!! I already bought my books for second year and they tried to talk me out of it saying that if the books changed, they would not refund my money!! I told her that we were already told my nursing staff which books we were using and I was buying them! Our fundamentals book is relatively new (2004) and I didn't hear anything about them changing it. I did hear that the nutrition book may be changing for your class. I bet the nursing department could tell you if the fundamentals book is the same as last year. The earlier you can start reading the better!
You will definitely not be old!! I was scared of the same thing - and I turned out to be about the average in my class at 36!! All of our young people attend the main campus in Dahlonega - the satellite campuses have very few young ones!!

I am confused...I thought NGCSU was a 2 year program all total? Is it 2 years including core and nursing classes or 3 counting nursing classes and core classes? I have most of the core classes except A&P done...will I go t oyears or 1 year if accepted?
THanks
Cassandra

It is two years without the core classes for your ADN - 4 semesters total, not including summers. Most have completed core classes before they start the program, although some people start the program and still have a few core classes to take. Have you been accepted yet? If not, good luck to you. I've heard it is a great program and I'm looking forward to starting in the fall.
