Newman University 2019 Applicants

Nursing Students SRNA

Updated:   Published

I'm trying to see who else is applying to Newman University's program this cycle since I haven't seen a thread yet. How's it going? I am nervous! ? I've heard they are competitive and the interview is tough.

Additionally, if you have been to their interview, what was it like for you? Thanks in advance!

Not good. I knew it would be bad but that was so much worse than I imagined. I’d love to know if anyone felt confident walking out of there! How about you?

I felt the same way... I would also love to know if anyone else felt confident about their interview?

Specializes in Labor and delivery, ICU.

I feel kind of meh. I realized after the fact that a couple of my answers were wrong so I just keep thinking about them lol

I’m pretty sure that happened to me too! My nerves were getting the best of me!

“Meh” is WAY ahead of what I’m feeling so that’s probably a very good sign for you!

Also, do you recall what they said about a timeframe? I remember the $1500 part and how we would have 2 weeks to make our decision but I can’t remember when she said we’d hear back from them. My head was a mess at that point & I was trying to pay attention but it was just not sinking in at all!

I thought they said they would have a decision by this coming Friday, but I could be wrong. I felt the same way. It felt like a blur by the end and I was trying to remember everything but I just kept thinking about how terrible it went ?

Oh man! I interview tomorrow morning and you guys are making me nervous. Any tips on what to expect or how to handle the nerves? Thanks!

Specializes in MICU/SICU.

Take a deep breath!! They don’t expect you to know everything by any means. You probably didn’t do as bad as you may think. They want to see how you handle pressure. You’re also DONE, so try to distract yourself and relax. And be proud that they saw something in your application that they thought has potential. Good luck!! My interview is in the morning. ?

Thank you! I can’t believe I didn’t hear such an important part ??‍♀️. It felt like it was never going to end but somehow went quickly at the same time. Anyway, now it’s done & out of our hands. Everyone has been reminding me we are our own worst critics and I know that’s true but I wasn’t expecting to not have answers to so many questions.

No problem! I felt the same way! I didn’t expect to not have answers to a lot of questions! I’m sure you did better than you think!

Don’t let us scare you based on our experiences! If it’s like mine, they’ll point out something from your resume regarding the area you work & just start asking questions about that. I didn’t even have a chance to direct any of the questions at all. They asked a few basic questions regarding your support system, what you’d do if you don’t get in, why you want to be a crna, etc but the other questions were pretty specific to my area. Remember it’s a 30 minute interview so get your thoughts out as slowly as you need to. I definitely talked way too fast. Also, they have current students there to visit with you beforehand. The girls who were there today were so nice.

100% agree with this! I think no one’s interview is the same! The students there were great and welcoming! Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

And now we wait! ? it was definitely difficult. It was so hard to read my interviewers! I could have done better on some things. We’ll see!! I’ll try to share an update if I hear back. They told me we should hear by Jan. 31 I think.
