Newman University 2019 Applicants

Nursing Students SRNA

I'm trying to see who else is applying to Newman University's program this cycle since I haven't seen a thread yet. How's it going? I am nervous! ? I've heard they are competitive and the interview is tough.

Additionally, if you have been to their interview, what was it like for you? Thanks in advance!

Glad it’s over! Sounds like yours went pretty well if you didn’t walk out of there wanting to cry! That’s a good sign!?

Did anyone apply/interview elsewhere too? Curious how the Newman interview was in comparison for you.

I already looked up the things I got wrong. I did not know the difference between dead space and shunting in the lungs and also could not think of the actual name for vasopressin which is obviously ADH. It was so bad

But it is over. We did it and had the experience regardless ? !

I said that in addition to mu opioid receptors that there are also kappa and sigma, but it's actually kappa and delta. I also said in a second degree type 2 block that there is an increasing pr interval before it drops QRSs but there isn't. Sigh.

That is pretty darn close though lol at least the type two was correct. I feel like my questions were kinda basic and I still bombed. They asked what cytokines do and I was like It is a part of the inflammatory response. Also the way blood pumps though heart I messed up my pulm artery vs vein ughhh

I only interviewed at one other school, and it was a group interview so it’s hard for me to compare. I tried to be upfront if I didn’t know the direct answer they were looking for, they some times helped me work through a few to get to the answer. A couple questions I feel like a stumbled through terribly and didn’t articulate my thought very well ? I said I was willing to do any clinical site. And I wish I had asked some more questions at the end, but the senior student answered most of mine before my interview.

It’s sounds like overall your interviews went well!! I feel like I stumbled and had a hard time articulating answers at times too! ? but at least we all survived! ?? Here’s to the waiting game now.... ?

This wait is brutal ? did you guys apply anywhere else?

I know & it’s only been a couple of days! I’m so bad at waiting. I’m fully expecting to receive a rejection letter after that interview but I’d like to just get it over with! Come on Friday!

I didn’t apply anywhere else. Have you heard back from the other school you applied to?

I didn’t apply anywhere else either!

I would like to get this over with as well! ?

Yes, and I was accepted. Newman is my preference though due to proximity to all of my husband and I’s family. ? the more I think about my interview, the worse I feel ha.

Congratulations!! What an accomplishment! That must feel awesome!

I also have been accepted to another program but it would require my husband and me to move across country, so Newman is definitely first choice. The more I think about my interview the worse I feel, also.
