Newly Registered Nurse (Philippines) : How to register in Board of Nurses in Victoria

I just have my license as a Registered Nurse in Philippines and i want to be registered as an RN in Melbourne. What are the steps that i should do? Thanks

Having no experience shouldn't matter however we do see a few Philippine nurses posting that they had to do a bridging course for Australia, so will depend on the state

Thanks, is it easier in Queensland? Apparently my husband's office is in Melbourne, my kids will be studying in Melbourne, that is why I would like to apply in Melbourne if possible as well..

Even if transferring you will probably find you will still need to meet their requirements

:nurse: To my understanding , there is a cheaper way of migrating to Australia with your skills as a graduate nurse from the Philippines . I think if you're under 30 , there is a type of visa called ' hmm.. can't even remember , will check it out and let you know asap. This is cheaper though, it only costs $175.00 AUSD for the visa charge besides the extras for ESL , return airfares etc. But look , it's goodpay in Aussie so you'll make more than you'll be spending anyway . Goodluck girl .... and hey , congratulations you graduated !!!! Yeah .. nursing .. the best choice !!

NBV will accept applicants without experience...the best example for that is myself :D

NBV already give me a go signal to do the bridging program few months ago...

so feel free to submit your applications nurses... :)

i would like to answer your question for ryan09. bridging course in victoria is 12 weeks and will be provided by the accredited course providers, either hospital or training institution. usually course fee is around 10,000. better check their website coz they usually updates the list of providers http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/courses-division-1 :wink2:

hey, bridging program usually ends after three months but it depends upon your performance, if the preceptor sees you as not yet competent, they would recommend you to extend the course a bit longer...however, if they sees you as competent and ready to be licensed during the course of the program or even prior to the completion of the program, they will advise the NBV that youre ready to be licensed without completing it.

the program is being offered by different educational institutions and hospital/ nursing home facilities recommended by the NBV...it usually cost AU$ 10, 000...you will have the options in doing the program, its either in an accredited school or in one of the accredited hospitals/nsg.homes.
