Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi im a new member to allnurses however I always went to this website to get answers to some questions I may have had at the moment. I wanted to come on here and ask about handling pre req classes. Im literally 3 weeks away from starting college and I am nervous. In high school I didnt really care for school till my senior year which was the first year I starred working. I did better than I ever had before. I guess it was because I was motivated to keep my job and I knew if my grades slipped my mom would have made me quit. So pretty much I want to know how you guys handled bio a&p micro the hsrd science classes thanks

Ps I will be attending armstrong atlantic in savannah ga

Study, don't slack off. Take it seriously. Look thorough some of the posts here on AN about people not taking their classes seriously, now trying to get into NS, and struggling because they slacked off in the beginning. Work hard and you will be fine.

My favorite way to make flash cards was through Quizlet.com. They also have an app. I took notes in class, came home that night and typed those notes up or entered the info into Quizlet.

Do all of the homework, even if you don't get points for it. It seriously will improve your understanding and you'll get better grades on tests.

Ask questions if you don't understand something.

Use google images and YouTube, especially for A&P. Being able to visualize the information really helped me remember it.

Good luck!

Study smarter, not harder! Time management is key! Be thorough in your work. Get a study buddy if you feel like you are having a hard time understanding the material. These classes are CRUCIAL for you to be admitted into a nursing school. Every class you take from this point on determines the path you'll be able to take as far as the school you want to go to for BSN to DNP, if you intend to continue your education. Don't take these classes lightly. Good luck to you! I'm sure you'll do great!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Oncology.

Stay organized. Maintain a proper work/school/life balance. Like another poster said, Quizlet ROCKS. That got me through A&P and Micro like a dream.
