This has been said for a long time now. I work at a LTC facility. They have few Rn's and the LVN/LPN make up the bulk of nurses.

I'm pretty sure immigrants from the Phillipines have to have a BSN because the shortage is of RNs here, but I can't speak for Canada. I'll move this to the International Forum, where you might get more feedback.

thanks. im really hoping i could use my cpn course. ive invested time, effort and money on it. it would just go to waste if it would be phased out. id appreciate any help i can get. even if not in canada. michigan or the neighboring states are great too.

For most countries, immigration and work visas I believe you need RN this definately accounts of USA and I am sure for Canada

good day! im an lpn graduate and planning to take the nclex-pn exam soon. i heard rumors that lpn will be phased out, is it true? i want to work in canada or the us. lpn course is new in our country. in fact, i am one of the first batch graduates of our school.

hi! i assume that you studied lpn in the philippines? once you pass the nclex pn did the school explain to you on how you can work legally in the states? what type visa? my friends are interested to take the course but worried that they may not be qualified later for greencard or even work visa like the nclex rn. need some feedbacks pls.. :idea:

Please do give more info. about yourself so that your fellow posters can give you more accurate answers, advice and opinions. We are presuming that you graduated from an LPN program in the Philipines and is not a greencard holder or permanent resident already in the U.S.

You're school in the Philippines should have adviced you on the details of getting an employment-based visa via an LPN program since they are advertising that LPNs are entitled to the working visas.

from the philippines, you must have the rn after your name and with it a bsn. the two year degree from there, as well as the lpn programs are not approved for immigration purposes in the us.

being able to sit for the nclex exam, and actually getting a visa to work in the us are two completely different things.

and any of the tempoary work visas that keep getting mentioned, they are not legal for you, you will be treated as a slave.......you will belong to someone and you will not be paid as an lpn in the us.

your choice, but there is no way that i would tell someone to sell themselves to the devil and that is what you would be doing. and it is illegal, since they are falsifying documents and trying to bring you in as unskilled labor. that is also grounds to be deported by immigration.

They are not qualified for a visa to work in the US with the LPN license, if they do not already have a green card. One is never issued based on that degree as it does not met requirements for US Immigration.

Why in the world would you want to go thru a program that is not even recognized in the Philippines for licensure, and will not get you a legal visa to work in the US?

Have you not read what is posted above? If you are seriously considering a program like this to work in Canada or the US, please think again. Canada does not accept LPNs for immigration either.
