It's a little early but I figured I would start this thread as we all begin to get our applications in!

Do you mind sharing about your experience at NYU please? I was accepted to Pace and put down my deposit, I know I won't hear back from NYU for a while..
I know they have a lot of people per class compared to other schools, does that affect your learning? How were your clinical sites? Were you able to find a job before graduating?
If you could share anything that would be so helpful! :)
Should we be filling out the FAFSA/financial aid documentation ASAP? If it is not done sooner than later, would that affect our chances of becoming accepted and or delay the entire process?
Also, I second the post above! Ruby, if you could provide any information regarding the nature of the program, that would be extremely helpful. The fact that you even came back here to these threads after graduating is really cool.

The other school I put my deposit down for is Rutgers and classes start May 20th for them. NYU is my top choice but you said we probably will hear back in May. Do you think if I call NYU they could help me in someway or like give me advice. Or do you think they'll just tell me to wait?
I have unfortunately been in that same situation with another school and they wont do anything about it you have to wait, I would give it a try you never know but I highly doubt it

I just completed it. I don't know if it would delay your acceptance since you don't have to be applying for financial aid to be accepted. However, they did say to do it earlier if you wanted to be considered for scholarships, as most of theirs are a combination of need and merit.
Hi all! I submitted my application for the ABSN on 2/18 and can guess that I won't be hearing back for a couple of months. I'm so anxious though and was wondering if I could get some feedback on my application? I have an undergrad GPA of 2.9 (BS in Chemistry) and have earned all B's on my pre-reqs so far except for an A in stat (still taking Nutrition, A&P2, and Microbio). I've worked in my hospital's ED as a scribe/medical assistant for >1 year and got a great letter of recommendation from one of the doctors here in the department. I also think my personal statement was pretty solid and addresses some of the personal challenges I faced during undergrad that explain my GPA. I know that the admitted students seem to be all over the place in terms of stats and some great people get turned away, but I just keep overthinking it

Hi ! I can totally relate 100 percent to your situation. I actually was in a 4 year nursing program back in 2013/14 and during my sophomore I went through the passing of my brother and struggled financially and suffered academically and as a result I got dismissed (failing was considered getting 2 C's) from my nursing program. I graduated with a degree in Health Information Management instead with a 3.2. I had already taken my pre reqs while in the nursing program and gotten mostly B's and some A's and one C in Lifespan. I feel like b/c I was dismissed 6 years ago, nursing schools still look at it as a red flag even though I have graduated already. I gave in 3 recommendations to help them understand me as a person. so idk, I asked NYU admission if that would disqualify me but they said "why would it, explain it in your essay" . I think everyone has their own story so dont feel discouraged about it. I keep overthinking as well that even though I was dismissed so long ago it still haunts me and ill never get in lol.
I think that there are instances in which personal struggles/stories are looked down upon as they relate to personal statements. Personal statements should reflect why you are interested in venturing into the field of nursing and how you plan on navigating the volatile path that lies ahead among other things. Mentioning it to some degree can be helpful sure, but explaining each and every downfall seems to be counterproductive. IMO of course!

Writing that essay is really the only way they will get a sense of who everyone is on a personal level. Plus they dont even give enough characters to explain each and every downfall anyway lol. I think it is worth mentioning your story b/c part of the questioning is why choose nursing now at this part of your life? Sometimes you have to explain your personal story if it pertains to why you are choosing to do nursing now at this point. Many of us are adults so although it can be too much to explain everything like you said, we all have took different paths to get to this point. I do not think they always want to hear cookie cutter answers about how you loved nursing as a kid or your mom is a nurse. Sometimes your "personal" story is all you got especially b/c it is unique to only you.
