VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Akanini,

what are Veeb's policies when NY states undergo bad weather?

Southern NY Association is paying my tuition but I must work for them in a nursing home for two years after graduation. A lot of students have 1199 paying for them. If not students take loans and financial aid.

We were closed today. Our clinical instructors called and all the students texted and called each other. There was no way I was driving to LI today...even though we were suppose to have a test today!

Hi I am 2001 graduate of VEEB. It was the best decision I've made in my life! VEEB continues to be a highly respected school. The teachers are well trained, and the study content prepares you to take, and PASS the state board. After graduating and starting my first nursing job, I found I was fully prepared to handle anything.

I've since moved from NYC to Virginia. NO problems, besides the pay cut. I'm primarly a hospital nurse. I've worked on med-surge and mother/baby in NYC. Telemetry, surgical units in Virginia.

VEEB school of practical nursing is strict, but it's all worth it in the end.

Best of luck to anyone planning on attending VEEB.

Well, today i take the Veeb's entrance exam. the text is giving in three parts. the first part is the difficult one. We have 80 questions for vocabulary in 20 minutes. the second part is easier,We have seven readings to answer in 25 minutes for approximately 38 questions. The math part for me it is my early christmass gift. The easiest part from the Veeb's entrance exam, i pretty sure i do 100% percent correct answers for 40 questions in 35 minutes. I advice everybody who are going to take this exam, you must be fast because there is no time. And for people that get above the average passing grade have to pay 500 dollars for a second chance. I can wait for the result.

Good luck...:D:smokin:;)Finally the Mid Brooklyn and Manhattan Board Education is two times more difficult than the Veeb exam.

I haven't taken the BoE's exam but this is what I heard. I wanted VEEB from day one and Boces was my PLAN B. You sound very confident. I'm sure you aced it. You see what I told you about the time, right? You HAVE to move fast like I keep saying!!

Anyone who fails this exam, but COMES CLOSE to the passing pays to go into the bridge program, which is a VEEB money maker. Last year only 23 out of 75 people in the bridge got into the program I was told. The best bet is just to ace the exam and come in September. They usually mail out results in a week scheduling an interview. You did finish the first part though right?

Evidently Akanini, you were right. The Veeb's entrance is much easier than

the Mid Brooklyn and Manhattan Board Ed exam. For the First part, i think i did 75 percent. But, the rest is really outstanding. Also, the only issue, i will have once i get accepted, will be the transportation. which means, i will wake up at about 4h30 am and leave my house at 5 am to get there on time. So, i am praying to find someone for carpooling.

now i got to go. I wish you good luck in your endeavors.:D:smokin::yeah:;)

75 percent of eighty is 60 questions. Please don't tell me you left out 20 questions. You will carpool. Noone takes the LIRR to Veeb and many Brooklyn people do NOT drive. I met a lady on my clinical site yesterday who graduated from Veeb and works at Nassau University Medical Center in LI. she graduated from Veeb in 2002 and said she did not drive. She met someone at orientation and carpooled with them from day one. Veeb puts people together by zip code I heard. They encourage carpoopling. The lady still does not drive to this day and got the job through Veeb actually!

Unfortunately, Akanini this is the true. I am not that good with vocabularies because English is my second language. So, you think the 75 percent is not acceptable.:o

Leaving out 20 questions is an awful lot. A fellow classmate told me that ESL students have a harder time but I am convinced that timing plays a major role! Let's pray for the best but this is why I told you to move fast through the test because it looks bad to have a lot of blank answers.

Hold on Akanini, when i said i did 75 percent on the Vocabularies, it doesnt mean that i left them blank. No, on the contrary i just not sure what i did on the vocabulary part, i did it by guessing. So, do you think I'm in trouble?

Oh okay. I misunderstood. lol.... Good. We will wait and see because anxiety can get you sometimes and you double guess yourself and you just could have had the right answer! But you sound confident with the other areas of the test so let's hope for the best!

Well, i pass the entrance pre-nursing exam for Veeb. The school requires 11th grade reading with a score (11.0) i did 11.4. Ok, i am sad for the reading part because i did only the average. But, as i told people before the math was my early christmass gift. The school asks for a 9th grade math with a score (9.0). i did (11.9). Yeah, the math part i handle with ease without any problems. So, now they ask me to send two references letters from a professional person, i.e.(teacher,clergy,physician, employer,etc.):yeah::smokin::up:;):lol2::wink2:
