VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Well, thank you for the info. it seems that the ADN route is preferable for me. So, are you aware that Helen Fuld take A&P 1&2 from Veeb?

I always hear that Molloy is a good school for nursing. However, i think that i will get my ADN first and atttend Molloy for the its dual rn/bsn because I am interesting in THE ROTC Program for NAVY NURSE CORPS, and apparently Molloy has it. I am praying that i can get my ADN quickly, so that i can apply for the Program because i prefer doing the Nursing career in the Milliary. I want to see myself as nurse anesthesist.

I am sure on that one. I spoke to an advisor over the phone. She said for me to take my VEEB and college transcripts there so they can be evaluated. All you need is a C+ in A&P 1&2 from VEEB and they will take it. Molloy and VEEB have an agreement but I won't know EXACTLY what is is until I attend an information session.

I'm not sure about Molloy because the college is so expensive. Two of VEEB's instructors are Molloy MSN graduates and one is on the Board there. I have a BA already so I'm planning to do Excelsior and then get into a program for a MSN degree by bypassing the BSN. VEEB is EVERY single day and I would like to avoid the classroom next year if I can. My problem is that I do not have the sciences need for the BSN degree. So I decided to do the LPN and take my time with the RN to "feel it out".

Molloy has information on their website but it's so vague. The best bet is to go there with your transcript from college and tell them you will be attending VEEB and ask what they will accept. Honestly though most VEEB students prefer the ADN route to get the RN fast and then work on the BSN at their own past so they aim for Helen Fuld or Nassau, or Community College. Most of my classmates feel Molloy is too expensive and takes too long. NY may be weaning out ADN nurses soon so if you plan to stay here, then maybe getting the BSN degree one time is an advantage.

nydreamer: that is something I keep hearing. Not sure how true it is and honestly don't care because I plan to get an MSN and leave NY. But most big name hospitals in the city only want BSNs. Helen Fuld DOES NOT take Veeb's A&P.

Akinini,

It seems that Helen Fuld only accepts student with LPN licence, and

with one year experience in the field as LPN. Am i right or not? So, do you know any private school that make the dual LPN/ADN quicker than HELEN FULD?

You may find schools with LPN to RN bridge programs but Molloy and Helen Fuld are the only two with direct articulation with VEEB. Helen Fuld is the quickest because it's a one year program. When you graduate from VEEB next year August, you can start Helen Fuld in Nov if you have an 85 or above in every class from VEEB. If not, Helen Fuld requires that you have your LPN license for one year.

Hey everyone!

I'm taking the Veeb exam on March 3rd! Excited and nervous about this whole career change! Hopefully we'll all have good news in the upcoming months!

actually my test date is the 6th lol... oops.... I'm also applying to Saint Vincents Medical College School of Nursing.

SVCMC is where my mother got her RN after being an LPN. Great school but they were gearing towards people with prereqs at one point. Not too sure how they operate now!

Well from the app I got there weren't any pre-reqs requested, though I do have a few from my previous undergrad degree which I am goin to try to transfer over. They said that the liberal arts classes that are required are done at the same time as the nursing reqs at QCC.

Yes they do say that and I hope they stick to that. What I mean is I hope they are not misleading students by having then spend money for the test and not accepting the students without the prereqs. Best of luck. Both schools are great!

Oh Okay I understand what you meant now. yes I hope not! lol

I actually have a question for you regarding the hospitals that I hear sponsor some of Veebs students. Did you get an offer like that? could you elaborate on it for me?

Thanks for your help

Southern NY Association is paying my tuition but I must work for them in a nursing home for two years after graduation. A lot of students have 1199 paying for them. If not students take loans and financial aid.
