VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Hi Pinkdove

I am hoping to attend Veeb in the fall too if you get any information can you please pass them on and I will do the same.

If you look through this thread there are people besides myself who wrote about the entrance exam. It is basic but you just have to answer the questions fast. I really don't remember how much time was given. Some people just complained at the end that they didn't have enough time. Think positive because acing the exam is the most important thing. I texted Pinkdove who is in the program with me. So she may be able to answer what I left out later on today. Best of luck to you all. VEEB is a great school for LPN training. When we go to do clinicals we meet a ton of VEEB graduates who say great things about the program. I'm so proud to be a student at VEEB. I am always on this site so you can drop me a line anytime.

Hi akanini I have heard great things about veeb. Thanks for your good encouragement.

HEY GIRLS...i'AM ALSO LOOKING FOR INFO. FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM...HOW TO PREPARE...IS IT VOCAB.WORDS.OR JUST READING COMP..HELPPPPPPPP...

hi akanini i have heard great things about veeb. thanks for your good encouragement.

no problem. best of luck to you all.

i was talking to a girl who took the test today. she lives in brooklyn and took the lirr to take the entrance exam to veeb. she found someone to ride home with after the exam because like i mentioned a lot of brooklyn people come to test. anyway she said she did not get to finish the reading portion of the test. this section has 80 questions and you must be able to read on the 12th grade level. it's basic fill in the blanks and reading a paragraph and answering a few questions. that was all she said.

just time yourself quickly but accurately because time is an important factor!!

well, thank you for the hint. i just took the entrance balc last saturday; i don't know if i did a good job. so, i am waiting for the results. in the mean time,i am prepared myself for the veeb. i am praying so that i can get to the veeb program. from what i see and hear, i feel like veeb is the best school for me because of the tutoring after classes. i find a useful thing since the professors are willing to stay and giving you extra time so that you can master the courses.but, the transportation will be a problem. so, i must find someone for carpool from brooklyn, we can fix the rate of money for gas.

no problem. best of luck to you all.

Curious... Is it too late to apply for VEEB? If not, Do i have to call and pick up the applicaton? Any help will be appreciated.

(I'm from Queens, but i drive, so it's not a problem. How long does it take to get there also? I'm not that familiar with that part of L.I.)

I have a test date for BALC, and plan on taking it. But I heard so much good things about VEEB, and it doesn't hurt to have a back up plan.

Another thing... Is there financial Aid or anything? 10,000 is A LOT. lol

I'm a VEEB 2007 graduate, and I also live in Queens. My daily commute to school was usually about 30 minutes give or take but it also depends on traffic situations, so you should give yourself at least an hour before heading out. It's not difficult at all to get there, once you find your way to the southern state pkwy. I took the entrance exam in Feb 06, so I believe they are testing this month. It may be too late but, you should definitely call VEEB and make sure. Most people I knew had a financial aid plan and the advisors are very helpful also. The teachers are excellent and very concerned about their students. Best of luck to everyone and to my fellow 2007 graduates, miss you guys!

VEEB is still testing. Just go there to pick up the application but you must take your high school diploma and ID with you. NO EXCEPTIONS. It's also best to move fast because seats fill up quickly.

Akinini,

Are you really 100% sure that Molloy takes some of Veeb credit for example A&P 1 & 2? So, if it is true it will be a great thing. Are you planning to attend Molloy after the Veeb program? Do you have some info About the Molloy dual program LPN/BSN?

I am sure on that one. I spoke to an advisor over the phone. She said for me to take my VEEB and college transcripts there so they can be evaluated. All you need is a C+ in A&P 1&2 from VEEB and they will take it. Molloy and VEEB have an agreement but I won't know EXACTLY what is is until I attend an information session.

I'm not sure about Molloy because the college is so expensive. Two of VEEB's instructors are Molloy MSN graduates and one is on the Board there. I have a BA already so I'm planning to do Excelsior and then get into a program for a MSN degree by bypassing the BSN. VEEB is EVERY single day and I would like to avoid the classroom next year if I can. My problem is that I do not have the sciences need for the BSN degree. So I decided to do the LPN and take my time with the RN to "feel it out".

Molloy has information on their website but it's so vague. The best bet is to go there with your transcript from college and tell them you will be attending VEEB and ask what they will accept. Honestly though most VEEB students prefer the ADN route to get the RN fast and then work on the BSN at their own past so they aim for Helen Fuld or Nassau, or Community College. Most of my classmates feel Molloy is too expensive and takes too long. NY may be weaning out ADN nurses soon so if you plan to stay here, then maybe getting the BSN degree one time is an advantage.

What makes you say this?
